I've been using a gts 250 lately because i wanted to reapply thermal paste and change the thermal pads on my gtx 570. Today i've finished the whole procedure and i've swapped from the gts 250 to my gtx 570.
The gts 250 was attached to the 1st Pci-E x16 slot as usual so i removed it and put in the gtx 570. Started up the computer but the "no signal" message appeared on the screen.
The computer booted normally though because i heard the windows start up sound from the speakers.
I shut it down and reseated the gtx 570, restarted but the "no signal" message still appeared.
Shut it down again, cleared cmos, checked again all the connections (power to the gpu, dvi cable) restarted, same message appeared!
Finally i've changed Pci-E slot and put it to the 3rd one (which is also x16, mobo has a nf 200 chipset) started up and everything worked!
So my big question is how is possible that the gts 250 is working flawlessly on the first pci-e slot (played some games too in the last few days without any problems) but gtx 570 doesn't even give a signal to the monitor?
If the slot was dead, the gts 250 shouldn't be working?
Thanks in advance for your help!
