Well, one would assume that LAN parties with alcohol (of which i have been to as well as hosted several) would only allow those over the legal drinking age (which here is 21 years.) That would leave you without any of the whiny little kids. Any 21 year old I saw throwing a hissy fit over a video game is gonna get punched in the face on general purposes then thrown out...

You really dont have any lans with alcohol???

I have to agree, showing up/participating are the fun parts. I had a friend that I took (was an insane CSS player) and his comp was the slowest POS I ever saw...But he had just as much fun as everyone else.

Thats kind of funny as I dont remember any "smells" at the 500 man lans I went to. I remember hearing suggestions to have a company like "Axe" to sponsor and I thought it may be worse to have 500 people constantly spraying perfume all over the place...

There seem to always be a few PS explosions however because of all the kick ass sponsors there always seem to be PS's and GPUs given out..

My prob is paying $49 for a game I have no clue how to play (I bought 1942 for a lan, and it just sits on my shelf). The cool thing about going to large lans and going with friends is you can organize those details before you go.

It's just one of those things where you're curious to what it means, but after you find out you're like 'I wish I hadn't heard that'. Trust me here.

Lan parties sound awesome. I've always wanted to go to one myself, but I don't know of any here in North Carolina. I though about hosting a small one (~10 people) but then I realized that my friends don't play PC games. :cry:

I've never been to a lan party, don't plan on going to one either lol. I don't know of any here in Dublin, mainly because I've never looked lol. But it would just be a bunch of nerds and no chicks, no thanks.

All of my close friends are weightlifters/bodybuilders with no interest in computers. I felt like I was in the twillight zone, almost like I was an outcast. LOL. It's truly a whole different world, that I'm not sure I'd want to be a part of in "real" life.

depends on the lan groups.

I've ran three, and been a regular member at about 10 over the years - and travelled 4 hours + to more than one.

If you get lanners in the age group of 21+ (here in au at least) you get the more serious stuff. You get people who go to game.

you get the 18< crowd, and all you get is CSS kiddies who rage every time they lose, kids with broken PC's who expect it fixed for free at a lan, or kids who have poor performance handmedowns or laptops that dont belong in the first place.

summary: depending on who makes up the lan, it can be an entirely different feel.
