I read usb 3.1 has a 10gbit outputs compared to 5 for 3.0 so I wanna buy a hub for 3.1 but then I can't connect it to my desktop only my phone.
What do you guys recomend?

It has a removable cable, so you can get a C-to-A cable to connect it to your computer.

Or you could get this and any hub.

You need to check what your USB ports are, 3.0, 3.1, or 3.2

3.1 and 3.2 have 5Gb/s 10Gb/s and 20GB/s options, you'll need to look up what speed they support and get a matching hub - and of course, a USB A-C or C-C cable that can handle those speeds.

If this is for your antique phenom II system, you aren't even likely to reach 5Gb/s as its probably on an external controller on your mobo and choked to low speeds.

I just bought a usb3.0 to sata external to get those 10gpbs! from my 2.5"

I'm not sure you understand how this works.

The drive, cable, and port all need to support that speed, or it'll run at the max speed of the slowest part.

Is this going to be like your other thread where you do strange things and make impossible claims and never back anything you say up with evidence?

I recently bought an ASRock Extreme4/3.1 motherboard from a TPU staffer. The USB 3.1 Gen 2 C port is on an external adapter that plugs into one of two specific PCIe slots. It'll only work in those two slots. I also got a C to C cable and have a C docking station. I've experimented with it using various SATA hard drives and SSD drives I have on hand. Not only are transfer speeds going to vary by device but also by file size and type. Your chances of seeing 10Gbps are slim to none.

bought this
but made a mistake cause is not ac powered for HDDs and stuff. Wanna know if I can use this for my nexus 6p that uses usb c too. and if I can use this hub to connect flash drives and gigabit ethernet adapters, I know i may have to root my phone.

If the plug is USB-C then you CAN power 2.5 inch HDD & External HDD without AC power adapter as long as it's not 3.5 inch HDD. For example, I have 3 external HDD connected to a USB 3.0 HUB which is connected to my USB 3.0 laptop port.

Unless you are also connecting SSD to USB, you won't be getting 5 Gbit/s speed with HDD or much of anything else.

Also, why do you need to root your phone for this? Why is that relevant for USB connection?

cause I wanted to use a usb gigabit adapter for my nexus 6p

Ok... o_O So why do you need it to route it from a gigabit adapter? Why not connect it straight to your computer's USB or USB hub?

is not that sexy I want it to connect to the networld

You don't need an adapter for that & you certainly wouldn't need to root your phone either. Just use the "tether" function on your smartphone.

the nexus only uses USB 2.0 data transfers, it physically cannot reach gigabit speeds even with a gigabit adaptor.

I was right, you're pretending to do the impossible again.

Yep, that's what I was thinking he was doing after your previous last post & you called it...

Dunno what's the point of going this roundabout & costly method when there is a simpler inexpensive way.

Starting to see a trend with OP's threads and posts..

LMAO !!!!
This thread made me laugh, so that's a positive at least.

At this rate i think he's trolling, but to prevent people falling for misinformation i'll just follow his posts and provide the correct information, even if he personally ignores it.

Why don't you suspend his account for a week or 2, to teach him a lesson regarding trolling/impossible questions and to stop good people like yourself and others, wasting their time ??

He hasn't directly broken any rules on this, that would be overboard.
He's either doing an abstract troll as some new kind of art, or he's genuinely confused about this stuff... so either i'm helping him learn or i'm preventing trolling from mis-informing people. It's just rather strange, the questions he asks. Gigabit wired on a phone? USB 3.1 type C from an antique motherboard?

ok, fair comment

@Mussels Well, he is at it again, this time seemingly wanting to set up a direct ftp connection with another member just for supposedly testing the max bandwidth of his internet connection on his latest post. I question the legibility of his "test".

Is this why he wants gigabit on his phone, for a speedtest?

Doesn't seem like it. More like he just wants to get the full bandwidth of his internet plan but not getting that max speed.
