Can't specify a % value here.

If my GPU can't handle a game I want to play in 4K high a reasonable smoothness I will seriously consider an upgrade.
About that reasonable smoothness though... I once thought the limit is ~50fps, but TDUSC is kinda badly optimized, I can definitely notice FPS dropping below VRR threshold (48fps) on 4K ultra and yet not feeling bad with the performance. So...I'm guessing that threshold to be <25fps.

My last jump was from a Gigabyte 1080Ti to an EVGA 3080 FTW3. I might upgrade the generation after this next, but I grow less and less interested in AAA titles that require that kind of horsepower, so I may just ride the 3080 until it dies.

HD 6970
GTX 960 (+38%)
GTX 980 Ti (+107%)
RX 6800 XT (+187%)
At this rate my next card needs to be ~ +277% so maybe RTX 5090?

I don't really have a specific % since I'm mainly budget bound but I guess around 50%+ is fine with me + I do consider the feature sets that I'm more interested in or use which is something that I'm willing to pay extra for. 'DLSS/DLAA mainly'
Usually I upgrade each 2-3 gens in the mid range or so.

I've also had a case in the past when I've actually downgraded when my GPU kicked the bucket and I've realized that I did not even need that kind of a GPU for the games I was playing.
Last time I've upgraded from a GTX 1070 to a 3060 Ti 2 years ago and I still have a hard time justifying an upgrade cause it plays everything I'm interested in/playing. 'I'm very unlikely to upgrade till the 5060-70 range cards are out'

not really much for me, as i still have a 2080S, and dont even mind reducing res to 1440p, as the screen still stays at UHD res, and i can read hids info easier :D

only did select 30-50% because thats what i expect on the cards with the amount of vram im looking for (12gb or more).

You should include an option for "only when a game needs it." I've been on my 2070S and haven't seen any games worth the upgrade, which it can't handle.
That's a good point. Most of the times I invested into a significant upgrade was because of a game. And most of the times, that game was The Witcher 1-2-3. :D
