Hey fellas i live in Turkey and i will be in Chicago for a week. I was wondering where can i get compnonents there. I was going to buy them online from newegg but they dont ship to hotels since they need a permanent billing adress. I was thinking of bestbuy but i checked from their site and stuff i want are not available in stores. Is there a place i can get them since prices are soo damn good compared to Turkey and most of the parts are not available in Turkey. :banghead:

microcenter(Westmont,IL) and Fry's(Downers Grove ,IL)

Edit: Those are really the only two real good stores in the area for high quality pc gear at reasonable everyday prices. Hopefully, you will have access to a car or a ride up there because they are about 30-40 minutes from the city

Well i'll be in center and i dont think i can travel just for there but there is another microcenter central chicago too. I'll be staying st the Drake Hotel.

You're right there's that nice one on Elston Ave I believe. It's still about a 15 min commute from downtown, but at least there's public transportation there :toast:

If your in downtown. Elston av. Is close. What qre you looking to buy?

I'm looking for Razer gear, some cooling equipment and a moduler PSU with 80+ at least 550W. To be hobest i was thinking to check on what they got to see if there's anything i need or interested in. :)

Yeah Microcenter on Elston. Blue line towards O'Hare from downtown to Western stop then it's like a half mile down Western Avenue to the north (go towards the McDonald's under renovation)...

A cab from downtown is another option will be like $20 at least though and you won't likely find one going back from there (though one could be called and would show up).

I am mobile ATM. Check my for sale thread. I have a top notch rad and MCP655 on it. I live in Chicago

Thanks for the advice man but i can only get 2-3 stuff since custom would be a problem and my budget can't handle top notch gear right now.

try to order online @ microcenter.com and select pay in store option, u will get an email confirmation within 18 minutes that your order is ready for pickup. This way you don't need to wander around the store and get confused (lot of good stuff). Once you pickup your stuff ofcourse you can spend more by wandering around. Make sure you check Orange tag items (those are brand new clearance items at atleast 50%+ off) and some yellow tag with Tested certification label on it, again you will get a good tested ones for cheap. I trust their tested certification, they simply work (sometimes people just lie and return or they don't know how to use it and return it). Never trust Frys returns (they are literally raped from top to bottom).

If you shop at Frys make sure its a new one and not open box, sometimes those ba*&^& put the returned sticker inside the retail box and pack it from out looking like a brand new one.

Enjoy your shopping.

Fry's is nowhere near the city itself (wish it were...).

Fry's blows stay with MicroCenter

Yeah i'll guess i'll check out microcenter. Thanks people i'll be waiting if anyone has other suggestions.

nonononono! no microcenter. tigerdirect all the way! their prices are much cheaper. i always go to the one thats next to the microcenter on elston. its actually right next to the home depot. also fry's is better for small junk like capacitors ect.. another tigerdirect is in hoffman estates on golf and higgins..

Ok i'll check them both then. :) is it easy to get to elston ave from the drake hotel? I'm going to get a Corsair CX750M or CX600M and they are available at microcenter eith a really good price.

Yeah I told you how to get there above. From the Drake you should probably just take a taxi (and you can likely afford it if that's where you're staying). But you will have to call for another one on a phone to come to take you back from the store (can really only flag down an empty one in the street reliably in the downtown area by where you are staying). Ask the concierge or Google the phone numbers for Yellow Cab Co. and American United before you leave the hotel.

When you get in the taxi by your hotel tell the guy you are going to Microcenter on Elston (near Western and Diversey; across the street from Target).

And you can't get to Fry's without your own car. It's a half hour drive from the city on the interstate expressway.

Not really. As far as I know Frys near me price matches Microcenter.

LOL price match means Too expensive plus the quality of help there is terrible. Expecially the Downers Grove location..

Agreed on the quality of help. I tried talking to a guy who was helping people with motherboards a few years ago(maybe 2 years I think) and he was clueless on the cougar point chipset motherboard recall when I asked him if new revisions were in stock yet. The few times since , I only go there for some of there hot ad deals and I never ask or expect any good help except to see if something might be in back.

Tiger Direct is an ok store too as long as they are running one of their hot ads.

So microcenter and tigerdirect will be checked. ^^ Thanks a lot again for everything. ^^

Oh yeah I forgot that Tiger Direct took over Circuit City's old spot down the street from Microcenter. I don't go by that part of Elston when I travel to MC. Yeah it's like a five minute walk from MC and far enough that you can't actually see them from each other but it is right there on the same street.

You can order it online

Hello, you can order it online, we can ship to both the Chicago address and your Turkey address. You can visit our site at www.laptopelite.com. While ordering online you can save your time in visiting the elec market to get this part.

Not to mention that was complete and utter spam. As for the TD store, I certainly wouldn't recommend he make a special trip like for MC but hey it's like right there where he is going anyway...
