Hi,

I wanted to plug 4P CPU connector into 8P CPU on motherboard. Does it matter whether I plug into first 4 pins on the left or 4 pins on the right?

My motherboard is Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite and CPU AMD Ryzen5 3600X. I just want to enter BIOS.

I believe the 8pin connector is keyed in a mirror fashion (so the left 4 pins is a mirror of the right 4 pins) so they only go in one way. I think it's the left side that is the same as the regular 4pin.

It's impossible to plug the connector in incorrectly unless you use force. Your motherboard manual should tell you how to do so.

I don't think it matters but use the top most or right most socket. If it does matter, the board just wont turn on and you'll know.

There are adapters you can get but yes 4 pin can be connected to the 8 pin on the motherboard.

before plug it you need to pay attention on the pins since the left and the right has difference layout

there square and angled square connector, you need to see which point that match to your connector
