I've bought 2 mechanical keyboards from amazon but I will return one of them.. But I couldn't make decision yet to choose the right one. What would use choose if you were me?

1. HP Omen 1100 Greetech blue switch
2. Corsair K68 Cherry MX Red switch

Thanks in advance!

Two completely different animals based on switches alone, and only you can answer if you like the tougher clicky switches, or the quiter reds.

Mines a k68 red. Switches are quieter, but imo it's pretty bad for mistypes, not sure why. Still a nice KB though

Iv'e always liked Corsair's mechanical keyboards. Well build. I bought a EVGA keyboard not as nice, has a few issues

Which one do you think lasts longer?

This isn't really a decision others can make for you. Best I can suggest: Use each for half the time until you need to return, and send back the one you like least. Durability shouldn't be a concern with either one.

That would depend on the switches and their ratings.

The K68 Red LED is the older board of the K68 models, and Cherry MX says their current reds can do 100-million clicks, although I am not sure of how well they were rated in 2017.

As to the Omen, I cannot find a click lifespan quickly, and I have not used those specific blue switches.

My point is type on them for a couple of days. If the reds are good, and you can type without increasing typos, enjoy. The same for the blues. If you can deal with the clicking, your hands do not fatigue, and they feel good, then you need to make a choice.

My guess as to which lasts longer.....the corsair, as it has a longer warranty ;)

I don't know. Only you can answer that.

But if me, I would choose the one that felt best at the end of my fingers.

Trust your perceptions and experiences, pick the one that feels the best and does what you want it to. Which is the most pleasant to use? Which has the fewest/no annoyances? Which has the most positive traits? Which feels the best for your hands/wrists/arms/shoulders? If you use your PC for many different things and you prefer one for some and the other for others, consider which use cases are the most frequent, the most pleasurable (and thus open to being degraded by a bad keyboard), and the most tiring/annoying (and thus open to being worsened or improved by a bad/good keyboard). Trust your judgement; nobody but you can tell you what you prefer. And if you can't make up your mind, then the differences are small enough that you can't make a wrong decision - just remember to avoid thinking that the grass is greener on the other side (it rarely is).

As for longevity, judging that beforehand is essentially impossible unless you can find reports of frequent failures or glaring production faults.

That's a weird question if I ever saw one. It's like asking random people which underwear should you wear. Use one for a typical day, the next day use another, make a pro/con table if you want. Whatever you choose, you will regret the choice at times. I strongly dislike blue switches, yet I use them every day simply because I make less mistakes with strong feedback. I have a second keyboard with CherryMX browns for the times when loud clicks start to be distracting.
My personal recommendation? Get a hot-swap keyboard, several sets of different switches, pick the most universal ones, sell the rest on eBay with minimal loss. More expensive, but you'll have a keyboard for years.

I'd ditch the corsair because i hate the company for what they've done with Icue 4, but i also think blue switches are too loud for regular use

Speaking of, is the Red LED model (2017) still supported?

I personally prefer the clicky blue switch

Since input devices are highly personal choices, I would simply pick whatever felt best to me, not what ends up being the #1 vote in some statistically insignificant Q&A forum thread. This isn't new and it isn't Windows specific either.

I really doesn't matter what joemama, sneekypeet, and Mussels prefer. I'm not using their hands and they aren't sitting in front of my computer.

Just buy what you like. If it's a $1 used tosser from the flea market, so be it.

No one here ultimately gives a ____ what keyboard you buy. Statistically speaking the most popular PC keyboard on this planet is likely some dirt cheap Chinese keyboard with a Mandarin layout.

OP doesn't even provide a usage case (programming, gaming, streaming, whatever) and has zero guidance on budget and acoustics. Or other intangibles like the value of RGB bling. How the heck is anyone going to figure out what to recommend. This is like asking "What car should I buy?"

One thing for sure: I'm not going to use a keyboard I hate regardless of what everyone thinks about it.

I started out with Cherry Red when I first got into mech KB's, big mistake for me as I sucked (still do) at typing, and with the Red, I found myself making way too many typos. It's great for gaming, but if you're an average, well, perhaps below average typist like me, you'd find yourself making a fair bit more typos. Due to its linear nature, and lite actuation, Red is more for gaming and seasoned typist (which I'm not.....obviously)

Blue is more forgiving for craptastic typist like me, it's tactile and requires a little more force to register the key strike, plus the tactile (clicky) feel would more or less let you know that you've actuated the key when you type. Some would consider the clicks to be too noisy, others may like the sound, I'm ambivalent when it comes to the clicks as I live alone, so there's nobody to complain about the clicks.

I have more than 10 keyboards now, ranging from Cherry MX Black to Grey to Blue to Green (and a few others) as well as Topre (45G and 55G) with the best typing experience on my Topre, especially the 55G. And between the two KB's in first post, it's a no brainer for me, the HP Omen with the Blue switch, or any Cherry MX Blue over Cherry MX Red. The only linear switch type (see what I just did?) that I'd take is Cherry MX Black. The heavier actuation point means I make less mistakes when I type.

Return them both and get one with optical switches.

Or if you like tactile and have opened pandoras box, buy an old school buckling spring.

Thanks everyone who have kindly contributed..
I've decided to keep them both :)

Did you mean IBM M2 model?

I would advise Model M before M2. But keep in mind they ARE old/used hardware and come that way.

You can get new ones from Unicomp of course, they bought IBMs old factory... but they are a tad expensive. They also lack more than 2 key rollover due to old tech.

If you have to ask, you'd be better off returning both of them.

Hi,^^^^^
Indeed
Frankly I love my logitech G710+ so much I have three now one used off ebay for 50.us works great.

It was already said before, use them for a week and find out which you prefer. No one else can make this choice. If you still won't be able to make it then pick one at random and return the other.

If you are indifferent about your input devices then you probably don't have the right ones. When you use something that fits you, you'll know because you'll be happy to use it.

Do you have a favorite pair of shoes or jeans? Same thing.
