Hi All
Looking to build an Intel system

I have decided on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and a Intel Pentium 2180

But im not sure about what Ram to get, i have 2 options that are in my price range
Either
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB KIT (2X1GB) DDR2-800 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 4-4-4-12
Or
G.SKILL 2GB kit (1GB x 2) DDR2-800 (PC-6400) CL4-4-3-5 MEMORY RETAIL F2-6400PHU-2GBHK

Both are around the same price

Any imput would be most welcome thanks

If you're an overclocker, go with the gskill ram.

Go with the G.Skill, those seem just more "overclockable" due to the timings that you listed.

EDIT: And even if you don't overclock, they are still good timings at spd defaults.

dont be fooled by timings, theyr just marketing gimmicks that suck everyone in. in actual fact timings have zero to very little difference, only in benchmarks otherwise nothing. i tested my geil ram at 400mhz with 3-3-3-8 timings (arn 1:1), then at 800mhz with 5-5-5-15 timings (ran 1:2) and my benches were significantly faster at 800mhz.

so even any cheaper CAS 5 ram will suffice, but if your a dedicated 'clocker then either of them 2 will be fine

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
gigabytes traditionally like cheaper memories... like G.skill, Adata, Geil (even though not really a 'cheaper' brand)... try to get some Adata vitesta's they OC insanely well and can usually be found pretty cheap. Otherwise the G.Skill would get my vote.

ADATA 4 GIGS on SALE!!! - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211188 ... 85 Bucks for a 2x2GB kit... Veeeeery niiiiccceeee (although these wont OC as well beacuse of the density - BUT 4 GIGS man even 8 later on...... 64bit is the future :rockout:)

AFAIK for amd systems timing are more effective than frequencies for AMD systems i.e lower latencies bring out more performance than frequencies.
