Wierd hybrid crossfire setup?

Well here's the deal i have two hd 3870's already in crossfire and i have one pci-E slot left on my motherboard with the phenom black edition. what im wondering is, should i get another 3870, a 3850 1gb,or a 3870x2 and put one of the 3870's in the last slot?

any suggestion's would be greatly apreciated.

With your setup, use the money on a decent watercooling setup, or wait for the B3 Phenom BE's. Especially with a 17in monitor. Or hell just buy yourself a nice 1680x1050 22" Samsung monitor for about $230.

BTW - your DFI board is the cheaper one of the two 790FX's right? I really want it. How is it!??!?!?

I'd say a 3rd 3870, if your itchin for tri-fire

Actually, its the lower one the mr2s,and it died ,now im on my msi kn9a2 platinum 790fx,and it worked wonderfully until it died ai had a 6400 be @ 3.4 ghz, and a phenom 9500 @ 2.6 and ive almost gotten my 9600 be to 3ghz, its a great motherboard

current drivers support quad fire but the x2 only has one bridge connection and people aren't sure if it'll work with more then 1 other card for cf, cause then it needs a software crossfire.

What's lower than the M2RS? Is it black PCB with yellow and orange slots?

As for a single slot 3870, the Sapphire specialty cards would do you best. It's designed to work about as well as the stock cooler, and if you need a single slot, that's gonna probably be best.

I'm sure ATI will devise drivers that will allow two of these cards to work without crossing the PCIE BUS . . . it'll be a matter of time, as CrossfireX drivers are brand new

Did you RMA yours? If it's the M2RS, and you don't want your RMA, I might buy it off you if the timing is right. Did you like it while it lasted?

And how's that 3870 look for ya? It used to be a good $50 over every other card.

i have the first one and as i said before, it worked like a champ overclocking through AOD was different in a good way, and its NFS sorry =/

I heard the Toxic card has a bad PCB.. I would get the Atomic or the cheaper single slot from Sapphire.

Another 3870 id say because one its cheaper and two they will all run at the same clock speed with gddr 4 memory.
