Power Supply Corsair RM750 750W PSU
Mouse Logitech G603
Keyboard TVS Gold from 1996
Software Windows 10 64BIT
I have bought a new gaming PC with following configuration:

AMD FX-6100 processor
AMD Radeon 6950 graphic card
MSI 970A-G45 AM3+ motherboard
2x4=8 GB XMS3 1600 MHz corsair RAM
500GB 6Gbps WD HDD

I have this problem:

Whenever i install Windows 7 64bit, it loads windows files bt after it gets restarted...
I installed windows xp 32bit which works well and i am currently operating on that only (with only 3GB utilization of RAM)...
I have tried Vista 64 bit, it gave blue screen error....
Then i tried with bootable win7 64bit usb, first it gave blue screen error, then tried again, and again got restarted after loading windows files....

I also checked the RAM's installed in DIMM2/DIMM4 (previously they were installed in DIMM1/DIMM3).... and then checked them one by one.... bt had no effect.... its running in 1333MHz in Auto mode...

SATA1 and SATA3 are in use... i removed my DVD writer's SATA3 cable from motherboard... again no effect...

Kindly look into this matter and please help me out...

When it blue screens does it give you a STOP error? If so what is it? It almost sounds like a power issue too. What sort of PSU do you have?

if it's PSU issue, how is windows XP 32 bit booting perfectly every tym?
BSOD occurs just after windows loading file screen, starting windows screen comers up,then soon after it BSOD.

Did you buy this copy of Windows 7 x64? Is this a legit copy that you have customized using vlite or similar? If so you may have removed a vital file that is needed for windows thus resulting in the error you are receiving when installing.

If you blue screen using a USB Flash drive and a dvd, then it is not the media it is installed on but an issue with the files itself.

I had a problem like this - It turns out one of the jumpers on the board was wrong or there were some pins that were bent and making contact with each other that shouldnt be that would cause a hardware failure mid installation.

Obviously cases like these are rare but it could still happen

See below from New Egg's feedback on your board- don't know if it will help?.....

Windows 7 or 8 beta install issues!!!

Pros: :::If you are having Windows 7 or 8 beta install issues and using the new FX line::: Go into the bios overclock settings then clock the cpu with a ratio of 10 and adjust the ram to 800mhz. If that doesn't work, try to install without the turbo on. Once you get it running update the bios to the newest version and you should be set to run your computer at normal settings.

Cons: This was a bit of an issue since it seemed to be a memory or hard drive issue and took quite a bit of tinkering to figure out how to fix the issue. I would still recommend this board for anyone looking to get it, just be prepared to do as stated above. Kind of silly that the support staff at MSI wouldn't know how to fix this issue after seeing how many people were having the same problem.

Other Thoughts: Thanks to Iceblue for the comment below to give this advice on how to fix. I just wanted to repost and reword to share with anyone else having this issue after rating his comment up of course.

You said you put the RAM settings on [auto]. Put them on the right values manually, if you can (voltage clock frequency, latency values).

Don't do the part printed in bold (in the quote) that way if you have a choice. Better use the MSDOS version of the new BIOS, using Unetbootin to install Freedos on a USB stick (don't forget to put the BIOS file on that stick as well after putting Freedos onto it). Freedos can be downloaded with Unetbootin itself.

Are you installing other OS in Virtual software like VMware or are you trying to install each OS separately on the same HDD?

If you want to have multi boot OS on your drive you have to first do a partition for each OS that you want to install & start by installing the oldest first in your case XP

I dont think thats what he is trying to accomplish. The OP just wants to install Win7 64 bit but it keeps blue screening and restarting on him after file extraction during installation but he has no issue when installing XPx86

Sounds like a corrupt install disk/install media. Make a new install disk/flash media and try it again. If you are making this from an iso image, it may be corrupt. Get a new one.

Agreed!:toast: Or download Win7 x64 from torrent.

another problem came...the monitor which i got s20a300n(samsung) is showing not supported in AMD vision engine control->under properties VGA display->
display data channel(DDc):not supported
display name:not supported
maximum reported resolution:not supported
maximum reprted refresh rate:not supported

due to which i m getting artificats over texts..turning green and orange

please help me solve this problem

sounds like your GPU is faulty (damaged memory or overheating) this would cause windows to restart etc.

also i had to build a system with that same board afew weeks back with a 8120p the board didnt come with bios supporting any bulldozer chips so had to install a am3 cpu and update bios, after that couldnt get the system stable at 1866 would BSOD, memory was tested and was fine, at 1600 would still give the odd BSOD upping the DDR voltage to 1.55 seemed to sort that out (pretty sure there are some memory issues with this board they seem to have sorted it with the 990FXA GD80) . once stable managed to get 4ghz out of the 8120 didnt push it any further because its only 4+1 and heatsinks are very small.

windows got installed but on screen text are turning green n orange..artifacticting

depends how bad the card is some will artifact on boot, some bad cards you can install windows no problem then when you install the drivers for the card which fires it up can get bsod, restart as soon as windows starts to loads or even very slow performance trying to do basic tasks. if you have another card around test it without the 6950, i am assuming the 6950 is brand new and has not had the 6950 to 6970 mod done at some point.

ya its brand new...just booted system today with it...there is very less artifacting but it is noticable

shouldnt have any actifacts, if your sure your psu is good it sounds like its either overheating or more likely the cards memory is faulty. probably best to return the card

i tried burnout paradise just now,in game there is no artifacts.
game runs perfectly.
power suply is cooler master 600w.
the artifact only occurs in small font text on ???
strange
pls help
Edit:no effect on movies,or on any game, only on text that comes up after right clicking.
plus 6950 got 5.9 in dextop graphics(aero etc.),is it generaly this rating...my 4870 got greater rating as i remember

Re-installing AMD drivers doesn't help? You should better to return your card. Something wrong with memory or BIOS.

ya reinstalled drivers but didnt help.
but y doesnt it happen in games or movies??

So, blame the BIOS. This is what happens when card BIOS flashing failed. For example, the game fine, but no movies. You'd better to return the card. ((( Sorry.

Edit:
You could not ask for a card from a friend, to be sure that the rest of the system is running fine?

+1 try your 4870 in there.... you may have an issue with the monitor or the cable/connectors. If the problem is still there with a different card, the card may be OK.

Did you install the manufacturers driver for your monitor or use the one included with Windows? I have an issue once in awhile if I don't use the factory drivers for my Dell monitors

hi guys,
i tried windows vista,n it ran great,no problems at all
windows 7 on the other hand(orignal) is having the problems.
i checked all kinds of settings, but to no avail,i m trying a clean install right now, will report back to u.
