Windows 10 KB3213986 Update Cripples Multi-monitor Gaming

Actually, that is incorrect. I have SWBattlefront, The Division and Deus Ex Mankind Divided. I am running Windows 7 which, for the moment, is DX11. All run perfectly. I have friends who own Rise of the Tomb Raider and BF1 are all running Windows 7 as well. Forza and the GOW games are the only ones you mentioned that are locked to 10. Oh well, their loss.

None of us are foolish enough to run Windows 10 and for these exact reasons. Most of us[in this circle of friends] would rather stop playing games altogether than play "the Microsoft way". And we are not alone. I buy most of my games on GOG anyway as I personally HATE, LOATH and DESPISE DRM of any kind...

Edit; Every one of us are running two, three or four screens. So yah..
I never said they were DX12 only. I just said that those games SUPPORT DX12. Never said none of those outside the GoW games were DX12 only.

And then I guess it just sucks to be you then? Must be nice to be rich enough to have 4 screens to play games on with high end GPU's to support playing those games at an acceptable resolution.

Im not really in the best of moods so im probably coming off as kind of a dick, but it doesnt really matter if you buy your games off GoG and the like as youll still need to activate most games on steam, origin, Uplay or battle.net. So theres always some sort of DRM. There are just more acceptable versions of DRM.

So yeah...

Um, no. They are downloadable and yours for life. No DRM. No activation with anything else.

@CrAsHnBuRnXp[/USER] Star wars Battlefront, Rise of the tomb raider, Hitman, The division, Deus Ex Mankind Divided which you listed as DX12 only, which is what @P4-630 was talking about all have DX11 mode as well, and are all playable pre-W10. In fact, Rise of The Tomb Raider and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has DX12 option added in later as a patch.
I never said those games were DX12 only. I listed them as games being supportive of DX12. The only games I said were DX12 were GoW ultimate edition and GoW4.

That's what I have been saying as well, I will wait at least another year if not longer before I jump on the W10 train....
Windows 10, it's sad that's what it is till now, it's simply an unreliable OS for now! Who knows what will get borked again in a next update!
It's just stupid!

I'm still happy with my stable, problem free Windows 8.1!
There aren't DX12 only games coming soon anyway, you can still run the games in DX11.

wait seriously? you complain about unreliable OS for Win10 but then claim to be on a problem free 8.1?

Windows 10 is the most stable OS since Windows 7 in its current form. It's VERY stable and VERY reliable. sure this patch is a boo boo but dang man, win 8 especially as well as 8.1 were FAR less reliable for me on multiple systems, reboots, lack of things running as they should have, apps hanging.... Win10 has NONE of that for me on any of my 5 systems at home.

You may have bought into the stigma that different = bad but when talking about reliability and problem free, if your not on Windows 7 than windows 10 is your next best bet.

Running all 3 in the home. One W10 is problem free, but on 1511. One W10 has odd problems now and then since Anniversary. 2 W8.1 machines: both rock solid and stable. W7, very few troubles, but showing it's age, and not as rock solid as 8.1.

No hype.

Yes all our windows 8.1 systems are very stable and problem free even after updates.

@Covert_Death , you can't argue with that now can you?

Stability, reliability, and performance of an OS is subjective.

Technically this bug is a public service as the five people still using classic fullscreen mode will now have to discover fullscreen windowed ^^

Stability, reliability, and performance of an OS is subjective.

Techincally speaking if people are concerned with those aspects over new features they should have defer upgrades enabled to put them on the stability/reliability update path.

That could help some but, stability, reliability, performance is subjective, it doesn't matter what version of an OS it is, newer is usually less stable than something that has been worked on over time, but at the end of the day, no two systems are the same, so you will have one person that says my OS is stable while another says that OS is unstable, as with everything it is subjective to the conditions it is under, some within the users control and others that are not. I was just saying there is no sense arguing over stability as both can be right.

I am uninstalling this update. Let's see if everything goes smoothly.

I never install any beta software.

Well if you read the forums here, many people on win10 had/have problems/complaints after new updates on windows 10.

Consider yourself lucky then....

it will be this with ANY software, this is what people doesn't understand. Look at apple software OSX, iOS, look at Android... Every update, there are bug for some people. I still have an issue my with iOS 10.2 where my visual voicemail will close any voice message like 8-10 in a row. Oh yes I consider my self lucky, as we have over 250 active customers and over 1800 computers, and there could be at least 150 windows 10 machines where it works well.

I don't say that no body complains, but saying that it is an unreliable OS... Come on..

Still, we are the vocal, very small minority of people who both have Windows 10, and have more than one monitor.

Multi-monitor setups are far more common than you realize. And many people who experience this problem would think their video card was at fault or perhaps the monitors. Microsoft has their head up their bums.

They need to go back to closed group testing before releasing patches.

About stability: I have reinstalled Win10 more often than Win7, but that is mostly because that is actually quicker than troubleshooting.

Is that how small the SLI userbase has become? o_O

I agree 100%......It will be a wet day in hell before I ever put that piece of crap, NSA spyware on any of my rigs
Windows 10 is just garbage and full of DRM bullsh*t

Then turn it off? I know it can be a hassle, but there are options to turning the phoning home of the OS off.

Or by all means keep using 8.1 or 7. But be aware that they suffer from the same issues (phoning home). Only way you can be sure your OS isn't phoning home is by using a custom build of Linux.
