Hmm so I replaced folders from my 23H2 to 24H2 but the process right now I think the ISO is confused

Folders were boot, efi, support and in sources all the files in root plus sxs/uup Folder and... Just now it loaded the drive to select. Again it's slow... I'll let ya know. Edit: Now it's installing...

PS - I'll upload file if it's All working

Oh I replaced the appraiser files to

Having to Re-DL but trying different stuff

OK I just replaced everything in the sources folder except the install.WiM things are happening...

Oops lol back to create again

20240427_181218.jpg

OK one more test tonight then I'll figure something else tomorrow

This is how Windows 11 should've been from the beginning. The only preinstalled crapware is Edge, and it doesn't require a Microsoft account to install.

I might actually use this.
1.5GB memory in use! My wife's Lenovo settles in around 6GB after a cold boot, and I've done my best to clean out the first and third party junk.

I forgot to note that the fresh install also only takes up 10GB of space.

Granted, this is in a VM, so I'm not sure if it's indicative of how it'll be on bare metal. I'll need to mess with it some more.

Why is Edge crapware? Works totally fine and many people have switched over to it. Chrome is junk now. Edge is pretty good.

Because it can't be easily uninstalled if you don't want it.

I agree that the browser itself is fine (I use it at work); I'd just rather not have it and use Firefox.

My issue with Edge is all the extra stuff that MS tacks on to it. I guess some might like it, but I prefer a cleaner UI. Bright Bing.Copilot Button, sidebars, and tabs inside of tabs and all that starts feeling a bit crowded and overwhelming for my taste. Once I get that stuff knocked back, it's okay, I guess.

The best i found is Ghost Spectre, i searched a ready to install OS for SteamDeck.

I used my AutoUnattend XML and it worked for the COMPACT version (in a VM for test), but for the SUPERLITE version (image also contained on same disk) it didn't, image is not found (even if i remove the image index from the xml btw i need to remove the file instead), idk why.
For the two i extracted the image index (ADK) to have only one choice available, same thing(s) done.

I guess the only relevant question with regards to this is whether the POPCNT instruction is required. I'd assume so if it's gonna be based on 24H2

So not for the oldest hardware around..

Yeah, still works for 11. How well it will work with the final 24H2 is obviously an open question, but should be fine.
I still prefer doing things manually via PowerShell, gpedit and registry on a normally installed OS, personally, that way I am actually fully in control of whatever is changed, but the practical difference is minimal.

So I’ve noticed a rather disturbing bug on 11. When I go to unlock the PC, occasionally there’s a brief window of time after the display wakes up but before the password prompt when I can see my desktop contents as they were when the PC had previously been locked. So whatever I last had open shows for maybe a second before the password screen loads, meaning, you can see what I had open without unlocking it, though just briefly. I’ve actually noticed this on both my work and home PC. Anyone else notice this happening?

Nope, can say I've seen that happening. I am on Insider builds though, so it could be that the bug was corrected without much fanfare on my side (though, by the nature of the bug, it should have been fixed everywhere relatively quickly if it's a bug that Microsoft knows about)

I can’t say how long I’ve seen it, but my work PC is the worst offender, and it’s on the corporate version of Windows. I’d think no matter what they’d be fixing it there if they know about it. I can’t report the bug at work due to all that stuff being locked down. I can say it’s on 23H2 at least.

Probably something you'll want to tell whoever is doing the support work for your job's computers (at least if it's kinda a big company), but yeah, not much you can do in that case without knowing what exactly is triggering it.
