i saw this on newegg and i need a notebook starting in january for school stuff. nothing heavy. would you trust it to be a reliable notebook?

Personally I wouldn't really want a netbook

Oh and I've heard nothing but crap about Acer laptops

black friday - best buy. I've seen 15.4 inch monitor deals w/ AMD dual core and 4 gigs of ram for like $450. way better, imo..even if not the best.

If your happy enough with the tiny screen and Linux then i day go for it ideal for what youd be using for.

Think they have them in Walmart, or i just seen one extremely like that one. So get one from walmart and try it out and take it back if you don't like it HAHA. Would check if you can do that but i am sure you can as the one i had seen was a returned one.

I'm after one too but i'd go for a $450+ laptop my self.

i'd go with the asus eeePC if i were gonna get something like that, they have a 10" out now or coming out iwth an intel atom cpu which looks nice. that or just get something basic, i personally always try to pay premium for stuff like that, i'd take a macbook anyday for school work over a windows pc... not flaming or being a fanboy, i just love mac notebooks.

yea, macbooks are amazing, but i dont want to spend all that money since i am building a second machine as well. i will look into the EeePC.

Yeah eepc's are a little better, but I think for a netbook that acer looks fine. They had a deal at BB today on an HP laptop (low end dual-core, 2gb ram, 120gb hdd, dvd burner and the works) and a printer for $279 today. Definitely a bargain. I wish they made a cheaper mac, they are nice, but just not at all worth the money imo (although it depends on the user).

Really I'd go for something a bit better than a netbook. You should be able to find an acer, perhaps open box at BB or something, for around 300-400 that should be comparable to the hp I specked above. That way you get the drive and the hdd, and a better proc w/ decent ram, so it can do a bit more than browsing but still is nice and cheap.

get the MSI windbook its got overclocking options in the BIOS and a 10" screen

I was totally going to buy this, but am waiting a while for better models (IE windbook is ok, but too expensive)
