In XCOM 2, the roles have been reversed, and XCOM is now the invading force. They are hampered by limited resources and must constantly evade the alien threat in their new mobile headquarters. Players must use a combination of firepower and stealth-like tactics to help XCOM recruit soldiers and build a resistance network, while attempting to expose the evil alien agenda and save humanity. XCOM 2 will introduce gameplay features such as procedurally-generated levels, which will make each experience unique to the player, as well as offer a much deeper level of modding support. Additionally, XCOM 2 will offer a variety of new content including five updated soldier classes, increased soldier customization, more alien and enemy types, evolved tactical combat and more.

Daaaaaayummm!!! Well done trailer! Hopefully they continue with doing the original XCOM justice with this like they did with the reboot.

Yess just watched video and read article, cant wait for it trailer doesnt show much of game play, but 1st game was i of my favorite alien shooter games and this news just knocked me down.

looking at the screenshot I wonder if this is still running on Unreal Engine 3.

I hope it's not just more of the same. I want a new hook.

Looks like we gonna have close combat this time as well. And enemies will be humans as well?

XCOM Enemy Unknown wasn't exactly the prettiest game ever. It could be on Unreal Engine 4 but still have the same no-frills graphics.

XCOM Enemy Unknown always left me wanting more. The DLC/expansion didn't add enough to satisfy me. More types of guns, more research, more ammo types, more weapon mods, more engineering options, and so on. I'd have liked the tree to be so deep that you'd reasonably finish the game before unlocking everything and it would let you go into overtime to unlock everything. Alas, it didn't happen.

Time to go beg cap in hand for a review code I suppose :P

Considering chaos reborn was made by the same old XCOM guy Gollop, I'd have liked to have thought they might have poked him for some input. Either way, I'm sure it'll be just as good as XCOM enemy unknown, only this time I'll hazard a guess that you can recruit some of the xenos

the Unreal Engine wiki says Firaxis was looking for a senior programmer with console and UE3 experience for an unknown title which makes me think this won't be a PC exclusive forever.

in the screenshot the enemy soldiers are NOT in cover...

can't wait to see the new stealth mechanics in action.

Well that sucks.

It allows sneaky sauce? They was definitely missed that opportunity in Enemy Unknowns. There was only one place where one could really sneak in Enemy Unknown and it only lasted for a few turns (the park and I think it was because enemy AI bugged).

Hell yeah. Snipers in XCOM suffered early game because they were permanently visible and couldn't really move (Late game they rocked, but you know :D). I think stealth would make snipers (and melee) so much more awesome.

well you're building a resistance network.. trench coat slides off and out comes the pew pew :p

this is going to be the best E3 ever!

Mass Effect, Fallout, Deus Ex, XCOM

That was one thing I appreciated about the 3 UFO games (Aftermath, Aftershock, and Afterlight). Whatever anyone else says, I loved all three...played them through at least twice each. I sank so much time into them. They captured the X-Com spirit as well, and allowed sneaking around IIRC.

oh yeah.. they become flying death machines.

It looks good, but I'm afraid 2k (or whoever the actual developer is) will leave the game bugged as shit like they did with the first XCOM.
I also hated the stupid cartoon graphics and horrible equipment models, which I think they won't let go of. The trailer looks decent, but it's just a trailer.

I love the art style. the soldiers look ridiculous.. straight out of Gears of War and I like the classic roswell sectoid and creepy thin man.

Interesting looking game. I don't remember hearing about X-COM...

It was awesome. Never in a game have you cared so much about your units. Permadeath can be crushing when you've worked for hours making a soldier what they are. You won't want to get attached to them, but you will :D

The game looked very nice (minus some of the cartoonish looking stuff), but unfortunately got boring pretty quickly. I played it for 85 hours, never finished it, and I'm afraid I never will. Not even with Long War mod (it's still the same game underneath). So, I am not very optimistic about this.

Nice and fast paced too, and keeping XCOM well XCOM.

E3 demo with Jake Solomon

$20 season season pass just announced

DLC is called Anarchy’s Children, Alien Hunters, and Shen's Last Gift, and they'll release in the second and third quarters of next year.

Anarchy's Children, the first add-on, features "dramatic soldier customizations," while the second add-on has new gameplay as an "elite alien hunting unit." It will also include new missions, armor and weapons, along with customization options.

The final part of the Reinforcement Pack, Shen's Last Gift, will offer a new soldier class and upgradeable weapons and armor, and a new map and mission.
