X1900 Series Overclocking and Feedback thread

Hy there i saw that a lot of you guys have 256mb version of the X1900Xt. So i want to share my knowlage so here is my oppinion of the card. First of all i have Saphire X1900XT 256mb and have been runing it with a stock cooler for a week at XTX speeds and the core got about 89C hot with dynamic fan. Then i swaped the cooler with mine Zalman VF700alcu which i had on my previous 9800pro card and on full fan speeds it reaches about 82c thats with all stock voltages and at XTX speeds thats at 650 core and 775 memory. I use new version of Ati tray tools for overclocking and costumizing settings. My setup gets around 25k 01, 17k 03, 9k 05 and 4800 06 3dmarks. Its a nice upgrade from an agging 9800pro although that card could stil be used for a long time for light gaming and everyday use. The thing i am woryed about is that previus card had 3years waranty and this one only has one year so i just hope this hot bugger is gona last me at least more than 2years with out a problem:D

As you can see, the temperature is reaching more than 90° and my cooling is a zalman VF900cu.
Is anything wrong with the settings?

You could try tightening the screws, vf700 (with AS5) was not doing the job with my x800gto (16 pipes) overclocked wih defauld voltage, poped in to 80°C+ following the installation directions and tightening just with fingers. Used carefully some pliers to tighten base bolts some more and temps dropped 20°!

Haven't got my x1900gt/xt yet (out of stock) but have vf900 waiting, same smooth bottom, but big fingerscrews this time. Still think that every poor cooling score with Zalman is from the cooler not being tight enough in the core and why accelero x2 gets more constant lower temps is because of normal screws that give firm pressure.

Try it, but don't break anything and then blame the messenger ;)

No extaze, I dont use CCC. The last Omega drivers, Ati Tool 0.25 b14, and thats it. Stock cooling with 80mm fan through "tunnel" directly to the card. 711/855 in AtiTool.

ok, thanx for that, I will try 711/855 on my x1900xt 256mb with the zalman vf900cu and give results.

Stock cooler with higher fan settings is better than the Zalman vf700 !

Yes maybe stock is better but i was annoyed at how loud it was at higher settings. And i have a little update ive reapplied the thermal paste and thighten the screws and my load temperatures are now well below 80c. Currently the highetst i saw it go at max load to 73C but i am still testing it, and also i have a 92mm fan blowing on my card but not at full speed. So at the moment i am a happy camper ;-)

AIW X1900 Overdrive?!?!?

Hey guys,
When I open catylist up, the ATI Overdrive function is not there!!! Does this card support that feature because I know its bigger brothers do?

AMD64 3500+~2.4Ghz
512MB 3200 DDR
200GB HD
Audigy4 Pro

forget about overdrive, its crap anyway. use ati tool.

How far can I push it with stock cooling and what are safe temps for the mem and the core?

Lower temps, better overclockability. Just keep around max 75 on air cooling. Its a lot, I know. But these cards are really hot when they do business..

GaS ti si s slotecha right ;-) Js sm tut pr mlacomu ubodu to zadevo no bom raj po english da bo še kdo kj razumu. Do you think that my score of 9k at 3dmark 05 is something to do with cpu bottelneck or something else because i saw you getting more than 11k with your opteron at 2.8ghz. Is opteron really that better than athlon 64 or is the difference 100mhz that important comparing to mine oced to 2.7ghz Athlon 3000+ or is there some other tricks that i dont know?

Yes I am:) Well, drivers not seems to be the problem with your score. Is your system fresh? What graphics did u use before? Clean up all drivers by using DriverCleaner(what a simple name). I dont think that 2000+ more points are because of 100MHz and 512k more cache..Because 03, 05 and 06 are all pretty much based on a GPU that u have, unless u own some really slow CPU. Did u terminate the ativexx or something, when ATiTool asked u? I dont know..Maybe its just Opty.. Its for sale..;)

No i havent reinstall windows i used driver cleaner to clean the drivers and my previuous card was radeon 9800. But all my games play ok so i dont see the point in reinstalling windows any time soon. I have disabled all ati services and i used ati tray tools for overclocking to xtx speeds so maybe i have some speed left in my system for when i decide to reinstall windows after all ;-)

X1900 GT Voltages

Hello Gooseone,

Ok so I'm using the regular beta 14, and I need to up my voltage, so I do that with ATI Overclocker utility. I launch overclocker I up the core voltage to : 1.550, which gives a true voltage of: 1.50 on the core. Then the memory I up to 2.2 for both settings in overclocker.

Which gives in ATI Tool , 1.84 v for both voltages.

I was mistaken before when I said it gives a higher voltage in ATI Tool.

So I have the same memory voltage you do , and I've reached up to 860 MHz for the memory.

Thx for the info.....guess my card just doesn't clock very well:ohwell:

Normally two different OC tools dont work correctly..So I prefer ATiTool.. Try to uninstall Ati Tray tools, and oc only with AT. Change the voltages and clocks, and then scan fo artifacts. Just a tip;)

X1900 GT Temps

Hello Extaze,

I tested my card a x1900GT with the same clocks and almost the same voltages you have.

Everything was set the same except my memory voltages were set at: 2.203 for both settings.

And I ran the 3d tool in ATI Tool , and I got the same temps you did 93 degress celcius.
But it probably would have went higher if i left it run.

And my cooler is the Sytrin VF1 Plus at high speed, so I guess your temps are normal at that voltage.

I think the voltage is set too high for the memory , I don't think it can take that much.
I was getting many artifacts for mem. at 2.203.

So I set the memory back to :1.84 volts, the core left it at 1.5 and the VDDCI at :1.437.
And I got 95 degress celcius running for 15 minutes.

So I added an exhaust fan in the middle of my P180 case, I took the 38 mm x 120 mm
that came with the case and set it up to exhaust the hot air.

And it worked a bit , now instead of 95 my temps are : 91 degress celcius.

Hope that helps.

Ok, I've crashed my x1900xt 256mb!
So I advise you to avoid overvoltages on this card It won't keep the voltage any longer!

I overvolt via Ati Tool 0.25 beta 14, I applied and saw a black screen, then after a reboot i saw these screens:
img2427yf4.jpg

img2428cv5.jpg

In my card I have 2 leds switched on:
T_FAULT et EXT_PWR
img2433dh3.jpg

I removed the stock cooler and replaced by a Zalman VF900CU for a better cooling and less noise, but nothing better:
img2429mh1.jpg

I added BGA heatsink Thermaltake CL025 to obtain a better cooling:
img2430qq6.jpg

So I am gonna buy an Nvidia card because I don't wanna have 90°C in my computer and hear the stock cooling making noise like a jetplane.
conclusion: 300€ lost.
Bye all!

No warranty? How much volts on gpu/ram? You have been warned by changing voltages..Its not just moving the slider and lets see how far it goes..Hope u get it changed.

Hi Guys im new here and i have aproblem with my x1900xtx.My Clocks are 715/815 and are perfectly stable.I can run 12 3dmark 05,06 without a problem. Also i run atitool artifact scanning for 2 hours and was stable too. Here the thing :in some games like godfather when i click 2 play the game stucks at a black screen b4 intro.Other games for example hiotman plays smoothly without any artifacts.Heres my volts GPU 1.425 MEMORY 2.100,2.100 VD 1.500.What could be?
Services are also deactivated.

@ extaze

That's bad man..:( ..guess i won't be playing with my voltage anymore just to be on the safe side.

Too bad you've that 2 leds on so you probably can't RMA it.
Hope you have more luck with your next card.....

No warranty when you remove the stock cooler :wtf:
702 / 819
I've been warned by changing voltage, yes.
Finally I dont know what to do actually.
Is my video card dead? Is there a chance to recover it?
I noticed both leds are switched on T_FAULT and EXT_PWR.

@TheoV

Thats because of AtiTool. Fear seams to have the same problems. Turn off AtiTool, disable startup option, and reset your PC. Then it should work. But not overclocked ofcourse. AT need a fix, thats all. Try some prebeta, I didnt.

Maybe try the other DVI port or DVI-VGA adaptor, read before that one DVI port was screwed after serious overclocking....
The usual reseat card and check PSU don't apply here i think.
Did you have much difference between the 2 different Vgpu/Vram settings?
Like more Vgpu than Vddci ?
