X1900 Series Overclocking and Feedback thread

Hello Extaze,

I tested my card a x1900GT with the same clocks and almost the same voltages you have.

Everything was set the same except my memory voltages were set at: 2.203 for both settings.

And I ran the 3d tool in ATI Tool , and I got the same temps you did 93 degress celcius.
But it probably would have went higher if i left it run.

And my cooler is the Sytrin VF1 Plus at high speed, so I guess your temps are normal at that voltage.

I think the voltage is set too high for the memory , I don't think it can take that much.
I was getting many artifacts for mem. at 2.203.

So I set the memory back to :1.84 volts, the core left it at 1.5 and the VDDCI at :1.437.
And I got 95 degress celcius running for 15 minutes.

So I added an exhaust fan in the middle of my P180 case, I took the 38 mm x 120 mm
that came with the case and set it up to exhaust the hot air.

And it worked a bit , now instead of 95 my temps are : 91 degress celcius.

Hope that helps.

Thanx PAPADOC, finally I have a Gigabyte 7300GS 'fanless' and I am gonna buy a MSI 7900GTO (If I can).
For information, I had the same results with the Zalman vf900 (90°C and more) with a overvoltage of 1.5v and if I remember, I didn't touch the others values.
But in 1,4v, the temperature was ~75 - 80°C on the card.

Is it possibel to overclock Radeon x 1900GT with R580LE chip? Is there any fix that comming out to make that card clockabel? My card is curently running on 500Core and 650 Mem speed. I already removed original fan becouse I wanted to cool my card with Tide Water cooler... It works nice :)

@ extaze

Your card might not be totally dead. Try Flashing the bios with an identical card bios from a different manufacturer.

Nothing to lose any more your warranty is totally voided. I have had the same thing happen to me, it was a 9800pro flashed to a 9800xt. Granted very different cards 9800 vs 1900. But i had a screen exactly like that. Used a different bios and everything worked.

Oh, I can't flash the bios, I have to be on DOS for a flashing, so here is the conclusion:
my screens don't detect a video signal.
Anyway, I gave back the card in the shop where I've bought and I am waiting for a Nvidia MSI 7900 GTO for two reasons:
- silence is gold for me.
- no overheat

and the perfs are the same for me, I have 2 x 17" NEC Multisync.
Thanx for your help. :ohwell:

Problems OCing x1900xtx w/ATITool

Hello everyone, been about a month since I completed my first build, now I'm ready to OC.

Here's my rig: Intel 'Bad Axe' Mobo (latest revision), Conroe e6400, 2x1 Mb Corsair XMS2 w/heat spreader, and (of course) Sapphire x1900xtx Video Card.

I Downloaded the latest ATITool and the latest drivers for my x1900xtx.

-Problem: Everytime I select the "Find Max Core" button in ATItool, my screen goes black and I have to reset my Computer.

I read this in the "known issues" from ATITool website: "Why does my screen freak out and/or turn black all of a sudden? You have more than likely set your Core/Mem settings too high. To fix this all you have to do is just restart the computer (in some cases turn off) and it should be running fine again."

But I don't thnink this applies to me, because I haven't changed any of the default settings--all I do is hit "Find Max Core" and my screen freaks out (once it turned white).

I have also made sure that the "Temporal Anti-Aliasing" is turned off in the Catalyst Control Center.

Any Suggestions?

Latest ATiTool? Which is that?:) Try with beta14, but first of all get rid of ccc.

please see thread I started with same topic title...I'm having some problems, this is my first oc.

You need to set the GPU core voltage to 1.425 (thats the stock voltage for the card when it's running in 3D mode). I had the same problem...;)

EDIT: Oops - I missed the other thread (that I already replied to!)

X1900xt 256 mb best I can do

I cannot get any overclocking tools to work better than overdrive nothing stay stable so here is the very best I can do.

I cannot seem to max overdrive, and it seems to me that the 7900gto 512mb is faster in this test but not in many other gaming tests like fear. farcry and others its seems to test more closely to a true 7900gtx :D can anyone break the 12000 mark with ati factory drivers and and a 2.5 ghz cpu or is it my cpu holding me back

here is a great review showing the 7900gto beating the x1900xt 256 in some lower resolution but at max settings the x1900xt 256 beats the 7900gto 512mb but they are neck and neck it seems the 7900gto's 512 mb of ram makes little difference in most games a true 7900gtx only beats the x1900xt 256 mb by a frame sometimes slightly more. Im kinda jealous of tattyone I cannot get this bad boy to break the 11000 mark im hoping nothing wrong with my card.

what do you think is it my cpu holding me back!!!

here are my 3dmark06 benchmarks 5454

Depends on your CPU, what mark is it? AMD?Intel? I got AMD 3700+

Finally got it to work

Well i get around 10400 with my asrock939 dual sata2 board with single core cpu and the same card as you havehttp://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2230254 only i have it overclocked to xtx speeds because i havent played with it much so i think that i can get simmilar results as you have if i put some more effort into it. The thing i would like to ask you if you play battlefield 2 do you have any problems with it:cool:

no not with and accelerox2 cooler its about 7 degrees cooler than stock cooler

its seems shader intense games which are newer the x1900xt are faster but in other games the 7900gtx gto etc are faster i believe its because of the x1900xt have 40 + pixel shaders

Well i didnt mean if its overeheating. I was wondering if you also sometimes get black textures with catalyst 6.8 and above and if it stutters when/if you get them. Here is what it looks like http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98190&page=2 And i also get this annoying bug in battlefielld 2142 demo:confused:

My new scores. Wow fast for my system

No I never get the black screens :D

And what are your voltages at those speeds? And i recon its also very loud haveing a stock fan at 100%. Ups i forgot that you have changed it to accelero and how does this cooler does against stock? Well my zalman is not really better its just a lot more silent and i have it at 100% in games and it does ok comparing to dynamic fan speed of the stock cooler at which the noise comming from it was still bearable. But i cant no matter what i do go above 680ish on the core with upping the voltage. Well atleast its runnig at xtx speeds without a problem and considering i will have it for a long time for about 2years plus its better to have it nice and cool and not have it overclocked to the max and letting it die prematurely;) Just another question whats your waranty on your card, and why are your posts so streched:D ?

My volts

Thats the way the pictures is taken and my voltages are posted prior to this I believe but I will post them again. Also why does it matter if its streched???? Cannot get the upload function to work but I will tell you my volt settings

New Bench Marks

After tightening my ram timing here is my new score.

no warranty I changed the fan that voids it.

You want another tip from your fave tipster??? lower your MVDDQ to 2.10 and your temps will drop and it may just give you an extra 10Mhz on your memory speed! for those using the stock fan it may just let you run the fan a little slower and therfore quieter.

no warranty I changed the fan that voids it.

Not if you put the stock back on! done it myself with my old 7900GT and RMA'd it no problem, and that was after it fried! :toast:
