X570 SLI, NVLINK & CFX

I was looking over various X570 offering and I was disgusted to see support for dual cards to be pretty much a non starter.

My R5 3600 has 16 lanes so splitting them to 2 slots is standard but who is doing that with the BIOS?

I own a pair of GTX 690 cards that still work so why not get greedy

Well, dual GPU support is meaningless and just a cost to board vendors when the majority of users won't use it, especially given that games no longer benefit from dual GPU's

Yeah, too bad it requires specific support and considering SLI isn't supported besides the 3090. Why even bother with it. It's a dead tech.

It depends, SLI is dead for any modern game and anyone trying to play competitive games at a completive level will actively seek out options that are not SLI due to the inherent latency and frame timing issues.

One GTX 690 is a single card with dual GTX 680 logic so its SLI on a card. I played tons of games at 4K fine using a DVI-D to HDMI cable.

So I figure a pair of GTX 690 can perk up game performance.

i feel for you bud, ive 2 r9 furys and ive got them stuck in a msi 970 with a fx8350 i know there all the same age but it would be nice to upgrade the chip n board to something younger.

It's still SLI. The only thing different is everything is on one card instead of two.

Even Halo: MCC was playable at 3840x2160 with the GTX 690 so I dispute the support for SLI in modern games

Destiny 2 aslo is playable at 3840x2160 on the GTX 690

The newest game in the MCC is almost a decade old, and Destiny 2 is almost 4, and is one of the only games with viable SLI support from it's era.

Nvidia and AMD do not visit these forums, go rant and rave on their forums and reddit. Mgpu is what is used but dependent on game devs, go rant and rave on their pages about implementing mgpu.

I know that AMD is not nearly as bad as NVIDIA for dual cards. AMD can make do with asymmetrical slots etc.
