In addition to the first liquid-cooled Radeon R9 Fury, XFX is ready with an air-cooled card designed to sell at the price AMD intended for this SKU. XFX' air-cooled Radeon R9 Fury graphics card features a triple-slot, triple-fan cooling solution that's very similar (probably identical) in design to the Tri-X cooler used by Sapphire. Underneath it, is an AMD reference-design "Fiji" PCB, seating the 3,584 SP R9 Fury ASIC. The card could offer 0 dBA (silent) idle, and stick to AMD reference clock speeds of 1000 MHz core, and 500 MHz memory. It could sell at AMD's baseline price for the R9 Fury, at $550.

Would have been nice if they would have kept it at 2 slots.

The entire point of the card has been ruined by this design lol

It's also put it into the league of full-sized cards..... this "Fury" will certainly not be causing much of a rage and, as anticipated, has poor sales at its currently price point.... it'll be even worse for this particular version as theres not a single reason to chose it lol :twitch:

DAT fin-stack! Looks like a power plant- so awesome :)

Wow. Can't say I hate it, but it would be sweet if they could manage the heat output to utilize a cooler (even 3-slot) to the size of the PCB or closer to it. That might be a bigger overall assembly than my GTX770's windforce cooler.

What then, pray tell, is the entire point of the R9 Fury?

So much heatsink. So much. One would probably have to erect a scaffolding under it so it doesn't put too much load on the PCI Express slot.

I think you're thinking of the "Nano".

It does look just like the Sapphire, seems like the companies are enjoying putting massive coolers on these cards. But they do run nice and cool with them at least though if I had my choice I would get the Asus one for the upgraded PCB.

The upgraded PCB only matters with LN2 and the Strix has the worst cooler of the Furys so for gamers I would just go with the reference PCB based card since they run cooler/quieter.

Even with LN2 the 6+1+1 of the refrence PCB Furys should be fine since it's an upgraded version of the 290X VRM but the Fury uses less power than the 290X.

Well I was just speaking for myself specifically in doing something like I normally do (IE water cool it). If were talking straight up just the best cooler then yesteh Sapphire has shown to be the best of the options (So I can guess the XFX will be just as good).

Not at all, with this design it blows the air away from the card one coursing less turbulence second not blowing hot air at the card it self.

I like this cooler on this one nice and clean cut and no kiddy bs on it or silly fancy plastic crap.

But in the end it has more benefits than the typical card which i said above.

If you need\want a small one buy one with a water cooler and be done with it.

Not all of us want our gear in small cases.

The XFX heatsink is a copy of the Powercolor heatsink which is similar to the Sapphire but not the same(different heat pipe layout).

For watercooling I'd still go for reference PCB since it's smaller and the blocks are cheaper and there aren't any blocks for the ASUS card ATM.

Did someone say bitchin' fast 3D 2000?

This is all speculation until someone benchmarks it and we can compare BungholioMarks.

I see no pleasing any one these days.

I did indeed mistake this card for one of the other Furyforcestormragefrenzy cards currently in circulation by AMD. :twitch:

.... to which I still see very little wiggle room for in its current segment lol

The entire "Fury" line-up is a dog when you consider the coin they want for this amazing little card....... "Flacid", would have been a better title, to be fair, and may have sold more units. :shadedshu:

HEHE too right , still I like it :D

Actually, with all that heatsink, I wonder if that gives a benefit in cooling for cards smooshed right up front to back. Hot air of one goes to the intake of the other, but it's better than no airflow, right?

As an owner of a Sapphire Fury I can attest that it is totally silent when idle, the fans don't come on until about 60c and then are not very noticeable. In 1440p which is monitor resolution I play at it's also not much slower than a 980ti in most games and is at least 25% cheaper. What's not to like?

Unless you're wondering this card replaces my factory over clocked 970 and it's the first AMD card I've owned for a while. I just think that HBM memory still has a lot of possibilities going forward whereas GDDR5 is dead. Time will tell.

Wouldn't Voodoo 5 6000 be more appropriate for that heatsink.

oh my , circa 1999 ?
The 3dFx Voodoo was my 1st Real Graphics' card ...:rockout: 16mb Memory I think still sik

Thank-you for your thoughts, nVidia Marketing Dept.

Did you catch the comment from an actual Sapphire Fury owner?

"it's also not much slower than a 980ti in most games and is at least 25% cheaper. What's not to like?"
