XFX released a special FarCry 2 themed graphics card based on the GeForce 9600 GSO graphics processor. The bundle includes a copy of the popular first-person-shooter title, FarCry 2. Its specifications are spiced-up by its memory: 1.5 GB. The memory however is DDR2 and is clocked at 800 MHz, with a bus width of 192-bits. This G92-based graphics card features 96 shader units clocked at 1,450 MHz, with the core running at 580 MHz. It sports a distinct XFX design with black-coloured PCB and single-slot cooling.

Is it just me or is the like sticking a spoiler on a bicycle. Surely its not gonna get used?

Wow, another version of the 9600GSO???

whats with the obsession with 9600GSOs lately?

An attempt to un-obsess people from Radeon HD 4670...using segment dilution.

This is useless. I might just use this as a PhysX card.

1.5 Gb of memory on of all things .... a 9600 GSO ...

Well...this is an incredibly pointless move.

On the other hand, I guess it's not a big deal for them since it's DDR2 which is ridiculously cheap.

Lets just hope the card isnt as bad as the game !

erm .. it will be

DDR2..isn't that gonna be slower than 512 GDDR3/4?

1.5GB of DDR2 VRAM clocked at 800 MHz running on a 192-bits bus? Why? I think 384MB & 768MB configurations are just fine for 8800GS/9600GSO or whatever they will be calling it next week.

Semi-pwn GTA4 on a budget. :roll::roll:

The card would have to be in negative frames per second and only display black and white to be as bad as Far Cry 2.

Nice one!

Everywhere I turn it seems they are giving away FarCry 2 copies. What a shame they don't give out bundles like they used to. I remember buying an ASUS GeForce TI 500 many years ago and getting like 6-7 games with it.

I got FarCry 2 with my gtx260 and they didn't even advertise that it came with it  They are that desperate.

Wow, I just dont know what to say. The most memory on a GPU to date but its pointless and wont really be used. Now, if you can mod this into a Quadro card, youd be in business then.

ignore the new 9600gso with the 256bit, i bought one and it was slower than my old GSso i sold that crap, nvidia is trying to increase the gap between the GSO and the GT, but 1.5gb of ddr2 is stupid

1.5GB,...

Talk about all dressed up and no place to go,....

I've saw this at Frys and i always wondered the point when there where selling it for 150! and the 9600GT's 512mb for 120 lol

Garbage. And it is great for selling to people who does not a thing about PC. They think that memory on VGA is like buying apples.

my thoughts exactly.
ddr2 doesn't have near enough bandwidth for this amount of memory to be used well, not to mention the fact they slapped it on a mid-range card. i could see a 9800/gtx280 with 1.5GB, but a freakin' 9600gso?

well I think it is intended for the market of people who know nothing about computers :pimp:
or know that more memory means better but when they got it they realise that a 256mb card is better than 1.5gb :nutkick:

its sad to see xfx do this "again" though, they're supposed to be oriented towards games but this card is more than likely slower than the 384mb version that you can get for 50 bucks now

is this card really 150 dollars, can someone verify that, thats crazy.

these companies are dogging out the GSO's now, xfx also has a 128 bit, 1GB DDR2 version, and thats just terrible.
