Game performance yes, and overall speed on how you browse and move around on the desktop and internet. It has the feel of XP, just the full look and everything else as windows 7. In simple terms, its XP game performance, slightly better if you ask me, on a different OS( win 7 ).

You still get the icons, overall windows 7 look, from the control panel, folders, etc the taskbar buttons looks like this

Aero is disable because you are using XP drivers, but everything else is there. You can move the window/taskbar buttons around, all of that, the whole look of windows 7, because you are still using win7, just using xp gaming drivers thats all.

Have you seen a increase in performance with your system?
Well Windows 7 moves like XP. You don't get that slugglish feel anymore, keep mind lol look at my system, i am not gaming with high end rigs, but you know the difference of how XP feels when moving around or browsing around, Vs Win7. Game performance seems slightly better, i made a thread about this a while back.

Well i can install Windows 7 Radeon drivers again, and use Fraps desktop monitor tool to record me installing the XP drivers. Or you can test it out yourself if you have a Radeon card, just download the XP drivers and install them from the device manager, note , choose pick from the list / you have disk. Also note, i am using 32bit, might not work on 64bit.

Do I get the 3-4 minute boot times back as well that I had with XP?

Yeah, or I could leave my system alone that feels faster than XP ever did. No thanks. If I want to go back to 2002 I'll break out Morrowind and GTA3.

um no, you're not listening lol. The only major change is the game performance or overall gaming performance. The boot menu, load times, dude you are using Windows 7 , you just will have ATI radeon XP drivers install, thus making game performance behave like XP performance, only slightly better, because of the OS which you are using which is Windows 7. The only XP stuff you notice/see is the game performance and no Aero full effects you know none of that 3d view taskbar / windows stuff, but you see everything else as in windows7.

Yeah, or I could leave my system alone that feels faster than XP ever did. No thanks. If I want to go back to 2002 I'll break out Morrowind and GTA3.
Well to be honest, i still don't think windows 7 or vista is faster over Xp, in games or in just browsing your desktop. The only thing windows 7 has overall XP is the look and feel, windows 7 looks a trillion times better and is more stable( in some ways ). It just feels better, even tho it feels slower then XP. I guess if you have a high end rig with a high end video card, it may feel faster over XP, but i don't have high end stuff.
All i know when i use XP, it does feel much faster overall. Now there are some games which does play better in Win 7, like um well wait, nothing. There are some games which function better, like SOF3 and a few other ones. But Gaming still is FTW with XP over Win7, even tho i fav win7 over XP. Windows 7 is the best OS. You just need a super rig and a super card to be able to fully use Windows 7 at ease.

Why not just install the standalone 7 drivers? It would make sense for the XP drivers to maybe perform a little better but only due to it's lack of features. If you are running a DX11 card, there is no point in running XP drivers. Who knows, perhaps there is some image quality loss too.

I see a whole lot of text and still no proof. Screenshots or GTFO.

yea i was gonna say, i'm pretty sure if u install xp drivers that you'd lose dx10 and dx11 support. Try running the Heaven benchmark u2konline and see if it'll tesselate. i bet u it won't.

It says, Support of DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 11 and OpenGL. So if i install it, i will be able to run it, because it supports dx9. Do you still want me to install it?

No, i only tested 2 games, SAS Tomorrow MAX 60-100fps, and Fear 2 max 40-80fps. I am not sure if you notice this, but DX10 doesn't look that much different from DX9. Crysis is the best episode i tested, i played the game at very high and high, all looks the same, just dx10 is more demanding. There may be so games out there that look completely different in dx10 vs dx9, but i haven't see any . Its all hype if you ask me.

Well, then I understand I guess. It works for you and that's what matters. I prefer to have dx10/11 and the best image quality I can get. I do notice a difference. It's not hype, it's just preference.

You do realize that it reads the *.inf file that points it directly to the Vista/7 driver anyway right? Look at your own screenshot. and it also lists your DDI (Display Driver Interface) as DX 9 only. So your effect is to remove all benefits of DX10, 10.1, and 11.

Fail.

Al you have accomplished is to limit your 3D driver to DX9 which explains your driver performance increase, which in turn negates any benefits from advanced AA, and also lowers IQ.

Um, you do realize that the thread title reads: XP users. The whole point of the post is to give XP only users a easy way to get windows 7 look and feel without going through all the extra trouble and still use XP, thats all this is alright lol.

um yea by installing windows 7 your getting windows 7. a video driver isn't going to change the amount of system resources an OS uses or how it manages them, except for the fact that as you stated aero is disabled. if people disabled aero they'd be experiencing the same as you. As for your "feel" of smoother game play or better FPS, that's due to running games in dx9, not 10 or 11.

You can't apply Aero to XP, some customizations make it work, and they do a good job, but not Aero as it uses acceleration.

You also give a contradicting story, XP users, but you test this on Windows 7? So, which is it, 7 or XP we are tweaking? If it is XP then you are saying to use XP drivers? Or are you sayign to use XP drivers on Windows 7, thus negating any effect a new DX brings? And also easily done by just choosing DX9 path or lessening the IQ effects?

I'm not being a asshole. Just asking what the point is here, a very clearly defined repeatable proven tested point.
