Your GoTo Game

That's what I find fun about Defense Grid. You can replay any of the missions at any time using different tower configurations and placement and try to get as high as score as you can.

I find that cannons make mince meat out of everything. You just need lots and lots of them. It's those spawning aliens that annoy me. Why wont you just die!

I read that you can beat the whole game using nothing but cannons. lol
That's not really any fun though. Try beating it with nothing but flamethrowers. :D

Civ 5 lately for me, I get "just one more turn-itis" all the time from that.

Football Manager whatever is the latest year

Mother of god that's impossible...

...

Isn't it?!?!

Probably.

FordGT and I were kicking around ideas for a TD game some time ago. It's a lot more work than one would imagine.

That's pretty much all I ever used. You can't do the non-mission ones that way (like the continuous stream of them) but it works pretty well for the campaign missions.

Battlefield2, 2142, bad company 2 currently enjoying BF3 :)

Terraria.

It runs on pretty much anything, and has almost no goals to accomplish. Whenever I feel like doing something there's nothing standing in the way.

Otherwise UT2004. Still fun, fast, and has an active community. Nothing quite like kicking butt as Bender or Zoidberg.

Trackmania nations. 100,000s of tracks - infinite replayablilty. Don't need to use the brain (though there are some pretty gnarly tracks), and since I got the xbox 360 controller working, I can have a drink (or smoke lol), sit back on my comfy lounge and relax (one of the benefits of having a large TV screen for your monitor :D)

Oh and its free if anyone wants to try it.

I have several go-to games depending on the mood I'm in ...

RPG: FF 7-9-12, can't even count how many times I've replayed those
TD: DefGrid, definitely
TBS: X-Com ... so many, many times, also Valkyria Chronicles on PS3
Co-op: Borderlands and Titan Quest

And I can't but agree on Transport Tycoon. OpenTTD has been such a lifesaver on many a boring evening. My wife's little dark secrets are Theme Hospital and the Emperor city-building game. She has played those a million times over.

Yup something so simple, so soothing, yet so complicated and irritating.

What's that council I can't build a station there? DAMN YOU!

need for speed is one of my relaxation game,

and zuma revenge lol

I've got a few different levels of fallback games. For many years WoW was top tier, it was my main game and also fall back game kind of. BC2 became my go to game for the duration it was out, lots of times I found myself not knowing what to play, so it just ended up being BC2. But beyond that, sometimes League of Legends, and my fall fall fall back game that I rarely play is Age of empires II AoK, just can't go wrong with that (I still don't think there is a better RTS or time period for RTS out there, really wish for it to be remade at some point, but know it never will be :( )

Don't really have one anymore. It used to be Planetside a number of years ago.

Who has only one go-to game? :P

Empire: Total War
Company of Heroes
Battlefield 3
Minecraft

Sucks how my RTS games are all years old with little to no dev support now, nothing has come close to them in the last few years.

the latest football manager

or Dwarf Fortress

Me.. UT3 just because of the mindless killing...
