Seems like a memory leak, no?
Crossed my mind too, but why exactly after 12 hours? And every time the pc is used?

@GerKNG One thing you mentioned is that you use a very customized version of windows, lot of registry edits, blocking internet from everything, etc.

If I had to bet money I'd say that is where your problem lies. Windows 11 in particular is so complicated these days, when you mess with it too much it can make it behave in ways that was never intended, and if people are right and it is a memory leak, that memory leak is probably coming from one of the changes you made having unintended consequences.

Have you tried a regular person's version of clean install of Windows 11, no changes, and then test for 12+ hours to see if you can repeat the problem?

Well a easy way to find out Is check the programs usage tab and see if one is at 100% and or taking up a huge amount of ram.

Or windows is trying to install a update. Happens to my living room computer all the time. Middle of a movie and it starts to freeze. Check what's happening and sure enough windows is doing some update or defend is scanning

Have you tried disabling HPET either in windows or ideally on the boards if its an availible option?

probably because it's over night and i sleep at this time. it's not exactly 12 hours but at least 10 to 12 hours when benchmarks and the OS get's slower.

seems to be disabled by default? "bcdedit /enum" show no HPET at all.

Update on Linux:
System ran the whole day now and it's not slowing down. maybe over night.

Almost sounds like a windows update related issue. That is everything's working ok and then suddenly...
It might be worth investigating what windows updates occurred in the past 6 to 8 weeks.
Although if it was an issue like that others would be having the same issue depending on the rollout.

Have you tried other OS ? At least narrow it down to software or hardware issue.

Maybe get Linux up as a test or Windows 10 enterprise and see if still happens or not.

A mismatch(ing) set of HPET in UEFI / HPET in Windows or a mis-set 'timer' could be the cause.
I wish I could find the Video/Article that went over all of the functions, configurations, and consequences...

IIRC, if the system timer drifts (out of sync) you'll start to get huge delays in typing, etc. [Not sure how, but once saw a bad CMOS battery seemingly cause this issue on a friends' new build]

At the least this 'theory' would go towards explaining why it appears to be a Windows-Only issue.

i have installed Tumbleweed on my 7950X today and the PC runs for ~ 12 Hours now without any issues.

Will run over night and look tomorrow (which would be enough to be almost unuseable with W11)

Exactly! And most possibly, software could do that easily. Either a windows update or a program or a driver.

Surprising...

Guess you can try and narrow it down further with different windows versions, drivers, other software you've got installed see if you can isolate what's causing it.

Possibly something obscure as should be other reports flooding in.

Sadly, windows system monitor cannot show problems into the os itself. Another possible root of your problem is malware. Many people didn't find any trace of their problems until they re-installed windows.

OS problems can be seen reading the event viewer.
If you can see errors happening in the time window where you think the slowdown is happening, you could see what could be the culprit.
Is the virtualization ON in the BIOS and used in the security parts of Windows ?
Did you try to disable WinSAT in the Task Scheduler ?
When the slowdown happens, do you notice more cores parked in the ressource monitor (CPU part) ?

Hi,
Off the OP screen shot H-V features is capable but disabled so win-11 virtual security features would not be compatible atm

Think the OP has said he's reinstalled a couple times.

I had this happen to me last year: I did win 11 install on same flash drive over and over, turned out my flash drive was corrupted, but windows would still install but was unstable. sfc /scannow I think helped. but ultimately I ended up using a different computer and flash drive to format the flash drive. after that everything worked fine. it was strange and I haven't had any issues since lol I guess flash drives can partially die? I have no idea.

Now there is 99.99% chance this won't fix your issue, I am just just trying to think of every variable for you lol

Flash drives are generally trash tier hardware. I've had a few fail on me including expensive ones.

An old SLC/TLC M.2 in a USB C caddy is much faster and much more reliable.

16GB Optane M10 M.2 Gen3x2 NVME drives are cheap, and just the right size.
Fastest Windows Installer Disk, ever.

At least the Realtek NVME-USB bridges have no problem working @ USB 1.1/2.0, used w/ the earliest USB-boot supporting systems.

Eh, just get a P1600X, worth the cost and you get 118 GB.

i have installed Tumbleweed on my 7950X today and the PC runs for ~ 12 Hours now without any issues.

Will run over night and look tomorrow (which would be enough to be almost unuseable with W11)
Hi,
How did you install tumbleweed ?
Different disk/ dual boot/ VM according to your last screen shot VM is unlikely seeing it's disabled.

The idea the flash drive could be messed up and corrupting the windows install is why I ask.
If you used a different flash drive for TW guess we can rule out bad flash drive.

You've also use inplace refresh windows as well ?
