Celebrating 6 years in the business of NVIDIA GeForce products, Zotac announced a limited-edition golden GeForce GTX 760 Extreme Edition, exclusive to the Greater China region. Based on the July-launched GTX 760 Extreme Edition, the card features gold-electroplated metal cooler shroud, upper-side VRM heatsink, and back-plate. The shroud features chrome accents over the gold. The card ships with the same 1137 MHz core, 1202 MHz GPU Boost, and 6208 MHz memory, as the standard GTX 760 Extreme Edition. It draws power from 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe power connectors, conditioning it using an 8+3 phase VRM. A complex cooling solution, which includes a vapor-chamber plate, multiple copper heat-pipes, and a thick aluminium fin-stack, keep the card cool.

I wish the western world got pimped out midrange GPU's instead of boring looking midrange cards with the only upgrade option of loads of VRAM that nobody wants/needs on them.

Victim of stats war. In China (and Middle East, I dare say), the card needs to look badass, if it performs slightly worse its fine.

Different sensibilities for sure. I ran into a similar culture clashes in the U.S. where if they can see any part of the plate not obscured by food it's automatically seen as a "lite meal"
if it performs slightly worse its fine.
I wasn't aware of that. I was under the impression that the worst case scenario would be a card of reference standard performance. Does the PRC get underclocked models?

Between gold plated stock 7970 and 7970 Ghz Edition I think there will be quite a significant number of people in PRC going for the gold plated one.

That's funny, in Europe if you can see the food its not classy enough.

We all know that the gold color makes a GPU performa better... :wtf:

The sheeple will buy just about anything if you wrap in in some shiny crap.

Apparently these are for enthisiasts who don't install their PC components they just sit and look at them all day long... It's also very important to have digital Bimbos on the package with a lot of T&A showing. That gets the hormone crazed kiddies attention.

If its only £10 more expensive than competition and I am building a gold colour themed case, sure why not? Spraypaint and effort to mod the non gold coloured one will easily be worth £10 unless you already have the equipment.

So I guess China likes them some gold?

When I read gold I somehow thought it would look worse than this...

Tacky.
But I'm sure a pair of those would match the style of asus' skt1150 line of boards rather well.
