Lenovo today announced the Lenovo ThinkStation E31, an entry-level workstation for professionals requiring a powerful desktop workstation within a PC budget. Offered as a mini-tower or small form factor (SFF) both include choices of the latest speedy Intel Xeon Processor E3 along with enhanced memory performance and graphics capabilities.

Antec showed off the High Current Pro (HCP) Platinum 1000W PSU, at CeBIT. The HCP Platinum is an 80 Plus Platinum-compliant variant of the original High Current Pro launched in 2010, which were 80 Plus Gold-compliant. Antec's exhibit featured a special body retrofitted with acrylic windows so visitors could see its innards, the retail version will obviously have a full-metal body, and a 135 mm fan in its right place, to keep the unit cool. The HCP Platinum 1000W features a quad-12V rail design, with four 40A rails. The unit features completely modular cabling, including for the 24-pin ATX and dual 8-pin EPS connectors. High Power also unveiled the Astro PT series of PSUs for gaming and enthusiast PCs. Its showed off a 700W model, featuring a patented LED-based real-time load-meter. Typically, PSUs are most efficient when the load is around half its capacity. This meter updates the user using colorful LEDs: blue for light-load, yellow for the load that's treading into "efficient", and red for high-load/overload. This way, overclockers know if their PSUs are coming in the way of stable CPU and VGA overclocks. The Astro PT 700W PSU is semi modular, with a few important cables being fixed, and sleeved, while redundant cables being modular, and flat. These PSUs boast of 80 Plus Platinum efficiency, feature a single +12V design, and 135 mm golf-surface fan to cool the unit.

After cases and coolers, it's the turn of Toughpower XT high-end PSUs by Thermaltake to get a whitewash, the company unveiled its "Snow Edition" variant. The Toughpower XT 1275W modular PSU is pictured below. Aesthetically, its main body is colored white, but its fan grille is the same chrome one, and its fan impeller is black (although the press-shot in the placard features a white impeller). Its fixed cabling has white sleeves, and modular (detachable) ones are pure-white flat cables, with black or red colored connectors to add a nice contrast.

The PSU has stellar efficiency, as it is 80 Plus Platinum certified. It features peak power output of 1375W, although 1275W is guaranteed and advertised. It features full bridge and LLC resonance circuitry with the DC-DC switching module, and interleaved active PFC. Its cables include eight PCIe power connectors, including six 6+2 pin, and two 8-pin. It is backed by a 7-year warranty.

XFX' line of high-grade power supplies targeting gaming PC builds, ProSeries, got an overhaul with three zesty new kilowatt models, including 1000W, 1050W, and 1250W. Among these, the 1050W and 1250W models bear 80 Plus Gold certification, while the 1000W 80 Plus Platinum. The three feature completely modular cabling including with essential cables such as 24-pin ATX, and CPU power. The units feature XFX' signature body design, which looks like a futuristic weapons crate.

The PSUs feature what XFX calls SolidLink technology. Each of the cable connectors are soldered straight to the main PCB, and not connected through wires. This works to minimize energy loss. All three feature a single 12V rail design, which ensures efficient power distribution. Other regulars include active PFC, and active protection against over voltage, over current, overheat, and short-circuit. The units are cooled by a large 135 mm fan, backed by an active fan control that prioritizes silence. The three are backed by 5 year warranty by XFX. Pricing and availability are not known.
