Corsair Announces iCUE and Gigabyte Partnership for Immersive Lighting Collaboration

Corsair today announced a new iCUE partnership with GIGABYTE, making it the latest motherboard manufacturer to support Corsair iCUE lighting control software. This collaboration enables compatible Corsair products to seamlessly support native lighting synchronization within GIGABYTE Control Center (GCC) and iCUE.

Corsair iCUE software, which allows users to monitor and customize performance and coordinate lighting effects across their setup, will support lighting customization on compatible GIGABYTE motherboards (support for GIGABYTE hardware comes via an SDK implementation and requires GCC to be installed). This will help create a more immersive and flexible lighting experience than was previously possible, empowering users to unlock new possibilities for how their systems look.

Corsair Enters the World of Racing Sim Showcasing its First Product Prototype

Here at Corsair's Computex suite, we saw a unique prototype of a modular sim racing cockpit and this is not surprising since we know Corsair to have intentions of entering the world of sim racing. This hybrid racing frame offers great adjustability, allowing easy changes between a semi-reclined position for Formula racing and an upright position for GT-style racing. It's perfect for fans who enjoy different types of racing.

Made with a strong steel frame, the cockpit can handle intense racing with high-torque wheelbases and heavy-duty pedals. The design reduces flex and increases stability, providing an immersive experience that makes users feel like real drivers.

Corsair Cases at Computex 2024: The Goliath 9000D and Nimble 3500X

Corsair has a short and crisp presentation at the 2024 Computex (thank you for not bringing your entire catalog to the show floor), and we begin our tour with cases. The 9000D is the spiritual successor to the 1000D—a no-holes-barred full tower with enough room for multiple independent DIY liquid cooling loops, so you could liquid-cool your CPU, graphics cards, and other hot gear separately from each other. Actually, you can have two separate PCs in here, with the second one being a Mini-ITX, so you could run your streaming and OBS server off it without affecting your main rig's game latency in any possible way. There are at least four large radiator mounts that take 480 mm or 420 mm radiators, each. You can see from the example build how you have the room for multiple reservoirs, radiators, and independent loops.

Next up, is the 3500X, a smart looking mid-tower with a contemporary pillarless front-left corner that gives you a panoramic view of your hardware. It comes with side-facing vents that are recessed into the motherboard tray, so they don't come in the way of large graphics cards like the ASUS Strix RTX 40-series shown here. The case also has strategically-located cutouts in the motherboard tray to support backside-connectivity formats such as the ASUS BTF, MSI Project Zero, and the GIGABYTE AORUS Stealth. There is plenty of crawlspace behind the motherboard tray, so you can wrestle with your 24-pin and 12VHPWR cables. Both cases implement Corsair's InfiniRail system that allows you to move your fans around a bit to optimize airflow, and Corsair's iCUE Link lighting and fan control hub. The 3500X is available now, the 9000D will come in later this year.

However, it also maintains backwards compatibility with PCIe 4.0 motherboards, providing a clear upgrade path and ensuring the drive's longevity for years to come.

The MP700 PRO SE adheres to the industry standard M.2 2280 form factor, ensuring wide compatibility with a range of systems and platforms while maintaining ease of installation. Although the drive requires cooling to achieve optimal performance, the integrated M.2 cooling on most motherboards is more than capable. Additionally, the MP700 PRO SE is available with a stylish active cooler that keeps the drive running smoothly and minimizes throttling.

Drop and Axel Grell Collaborate on Pure Audio Headphones

Drop, a leading community-driven e-commerce brand, and audio pioneer Axel Grell have achieved a new pinnacle in stereo imaging and audio engineering with the Drop + Grell OAE1 Signature Headphones. Leveraging Grell's three decades of audio engineering and product development experience designing some of the industry's most iconic headphones, the driver-forward, open-around-ear OAE1 headphones lean into the structure of the human ear to achieve a more natural and realistic sound field much closer to a speaker listening experience.

The most notable aspect of the Drop + Grell OAE1s is the radical and acute placement of the drivers in front of and away from the ears, enabling the sound field from the transducers to take advantage of the ears natural structure to direct sound into the ear canal. The open-around-ear design minimizes acoustic reflections and controlling sound pressure, with the culmination of both innovations resulting in improved stereo imaging, a natural sound field, and the uncovering of the deepest dimensions of any song. "Our ears are as individual as fingerprints, so when you put a driver right on top of the eardrum like most headphones do, it will sound good for some and bad for others," shares Grell. "By positioning the driver in front of the ear, we're bringing the natural geometry of the ear into the sound forming process, allowing the brain to equalize the sound. Combined with its open-around-ear design, these signature headphones create a rich and pure audio experience."

Corsair Pursuing an Acquisition of Fanatec, the Leading Brand for Sim Racing Hardware

Corsair announced today that it has entered exclusive negotiations to acquire sim racing specialist Endor AG, owners of the world famous Fanatec brand. Corsair has reached an agreement with Endor to fund its short-term cash needs while both companies negotiate a restructuring of Endor's approximately €70 million of debt, which will ultimately result in Corsair acquiring Endor. "This transaction would solve the company's significant debt load and position the company for growth and continued product portfolio expansion."

This sentiment is echoed by Endor. "We are very pleased to have found a strategic investor in Corsair who knows our market well and wants to invest for the long term," said Andres Ruff, CEO and Chief Restructuring Officer of Endor. Endor is a leading manufacturer of dedicated sim racing hardware, including force feedback steering wheels, pedals, and complete cockpits for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC-based racing simulators. This acquisition bolsters the investment Corsair has made in the simulation space, and means it is uniquely positioned going forward to provide peerless sim racing solutions.

CORSAIR Fans and Coolers at 2024 CES: Air A115, AF120 MAX Thick, and RX Series Fans

CORSAIR at the 2024 International CES unveiled three new air cooling products; the A115 air CPU cooler, the AF120 MAX fans, and the RX Series Fans. We begin our tour with the AF120 MAX. These 120 mm fans come with a thickness of 30 mm, above the 25 mm industry standard. This 5 mm increase allows for a significantly bigger impeller, which results in a static pressure of 4.14 mm H₂O at its top speed of 2,000 RPM. The company hasn't disclosed its airflow and noise numbers, yet. It is also planning such thick fans in the 140 mm size. The fan is recommended for applications such as liquid cooling radiators, where the high static pressure comes handy. Next up, is the RX Series, a set of mid-range fans that come in RGB and non-RGB variants, and in sizes of 120 mm and 140 mm. The RGB ones support iCUE Link.

The star attraction is the new A115 air CPU cooler. This is a high-end D-type (dual fin-stack) CPU cooler, which uses six 6 mm-thick copper heatpipes that make indirect contact with the CPU through a copper base; 90 nickel-plated fins, a pair of included AF140 Elite PWM 140 mm fans; and an innovative new fan-installation mechanism that puts the two fans on rails, and has them slide into place from the top, with the heatsink installed, so you don't wrestle with clips and get cut. This sliding mechanism also ensures clearance for memory near the first "push" fan. The company's "Hold Fast" retention module is designed for easy installation of the heatsink; among the CPU socket types supported are LGA1700 (and by extension the upcoming LGA1851), AM5, and AM4.
