Kingston Releases 4th Generation High-Speed Media Reader; 64GB 600X CF Card

Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced its 4th generation HS4 All-In-One Media Reader. The multi-function reader improves upon the previous model as it reads all major card format types including the latest SD card speeds (UHS-I, UHS-II) and CF Type I and II (UDMA 0-7).

Users can easily back up and transfer music, photos, videos and other digital data with USB 3.0 high-speed performance. This allows users to save time transferring files as USB 3.0 allows up to 5Gb/s data transfer speed - almost 10x faster than USB 2.0. The portable, small form factor reader has a brushed nickel case and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

Green House Releases 51-in-1 Media Card Reader

To help people find their way through the labyrinth of media card formats Green House has developed and launched a reader claimed to support no less than 51 storage offerings. Dubbed GH-CRM1A-BK, the reader measures 69.2 x 42.2 x 13.6 mm, it has a USB 2.0 interface (USB 3.0 would have been nice) and supports SD, SDHC, SDXC, miniSD, microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro-Duo, Memory Stick micro and Compact Flash cards.

RiData Releases 233x/300x CF Cards and SATA HDD Converter Kit

SanDisk Suing 25 Companies for Patent Infringement

SanDisk, a company well known for developing and manufacturing flash-based storage solutions, is suing 25 companies including LG Electronics for allegedly infringing patents used in removable flash storage products such as MP3 players and USB flash drives. The company has filed two lawsuits, one for five patent infringements and the other for two patent infringements, as well as filing a complaint with the US International Trade Commission asking to have the companies being accused barred from exporting their products to the USA. Other companies involved include Buffalo, Apacer Technology and Kingston, and if the case is successful it could see a rise in the price of flash-based storage such as CompactFlash cards.

Compact Flash SATA Card Announced

The CompactFlash Association (CFA) announces the formation of a working group to develop a specification for a CompactFlash card with a SATA (Serial ATA) interface. CFA members interested in the SATA interface should apply for inclusion in the CFA's SATA working group. Mr. Shigeto Kanda of Canon and the CFA chairman of the board said "The development of a CompactFlash card with a SATA interface will maintain the dominance of CompactFlash in the nonconsumer (embedded systems, single board computers, data recorder, etc.) markets as well as promote its use in other applications. Having the SATA interface will be a significant step for CompactFlash."
