GIGABYTE Announces Radeon RX 7900 GRE Gaming OC Graphics Card

GIGABYTE, a leading manufacturer of premium gaming hardware, today announced the new GIGABYTE AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics cards powered by AMD RDNA 3 architecture - the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7900 GRE GAMING OC 16G graphics cards available for purchase on February 27, 2024. The GAMING OC graphics card, a classic and popular GIGABYTE graphics card, focuses on exceptional performance and stability. With the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE GPU and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, it brings next-gen, immersive and high-refresh 1440p gaming and streaming experiences, with additional video memory to enable gamers to step into 4K.

The GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7900 GRE GAMING OC 16G graphics cards come with the WINDFORCE cooling system. The system includes three unique blade fans with alternate spinning, a copper plate that directly contacts the GPU, composite copper heat pipes, 3D active fans and screen cooling to maximize heat dissipation, ensuring the graphics cards operate at low temperatures while delivering outstanding performance. The alternate spinning technology rotates the central fan in the opposite direction of the other two fans, effectively dissipating heat from both the top and the bottom of the graphics card for more efficient cooling. The large copper plate makes direct contact with the GPU and VRAM. Coupled with the composite copper heat pipes, it provides excellent heat dissipation. Moreover, the handy onboard dual BIOS switch allows users to choose between OC and SILENT modes, offering the optimal settings tuned by GIGABYTE.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE To Launch Globally on February 27

AMD's Radeon RX 7900 GRE, or Golden Rabbit Edition, which was previously available only to the Chinese market, will launch globally on February 27. According to the leaked slides, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE will launch at $549, and AMD is comparing it to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 non-SUPER graphics card. In case you missed it, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE is based on the Navi 31 XL GPU with 80 Compute Units (CUs), which leaves it with 5120 Stream Processors, and comes with 16 GB of 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory interface, which adds up to a maximum bandwidth of 576 GB/s. The Radeon RX 7900 GRE should fit nicely between the Radeon RX 7900 XT and the Radeon RX 7800 XT.

According to the leaked slides, AMD is comparing the Radeon RX 7900 GRE against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 non-SUPER, which now shares the same price after the recent $50 price cut. According to AMD's own slides, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE should provide around 14 percent more performance per buck on average, and is between 1 and 32 percent faster, at least in games tested by AMD.

GIGABYTE Intros Radeon RX 7900 GRE Gaming OC, European Availability Expected

GIGABYTE is ready with its first custom design graphics card based on the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition). Originally designed for the Chinese domestic market, the RX 7900 GRE is finding its way across other Asian markets, and is also available in Europe. This GIGABYTE graphics card could be among the RX 7900 GRE cards to make it to the old continent. The card's design resembles that of the company's RX 7800 XT Gaming OC, which is slightly smaller than that of the RX 7900 XT Gaming OC. It features a triple-slot WindForce 3X cooling solution with a dual aluminium fin-stack heatsink that uses a copper base-plate, four heatpipes, and a trio of 80 mm fans. The card is about 30 cm long, 13 cm tall, and 5.6 cm thick. It uses a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors.

The Radeon RX 7900 GRE is based on the "Navi 31" XL silicon, which is essentially the "Navi 31" chiplet GPU on a compact package that's about the size of a "Navi 32." AMD designed this smaller package for its mobile RX 7900 series SKUs. The RX 7900 GRE is configured with 80 RDNA3 compute units, which make up 5,120 stream processors, 160 AI accelerators, 80 Ray accelerators, and 320 TMUs. It gets the full 192 ROP count of the silicon. The SKU only has four out of six MCDs (memory cache dies) enabled, which gives it 64 MB of Infinity Cache, and a 256-bit wide memory bus, driving 16 GB of 18 Gbps GDDR6 for 576 GB/s of memory bandwidth. The total board power (TBP) of the RX 7900 GRE is configured at 260 W, which is about the same as that of the RX 7800 XT. The GIGABYTE Gaming OC card is expected to come with a slight factory overclock for the GPU.

Price Cuts Bring the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti to Within $15 of Radeon RX 7600 XT

A series of price cuts on Best Buy for the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (8 GB) sees the card now drop to $344, down from its $399 MSRP, reports VideoCardz. This new low price puts it within just $15 of the recently launched AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT. For the vast majority of gamers playing at 1080p, this is great news. In our testing, the RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB is on average 18% faster than the RX 7600 XT in gaming without ray tracing; and a staggering 45% faster with ray tracing enabled. Both the RTX 4060 Ti and the RX 7600 XT are recommended by their makers for maxed out gaming at 1080p, including with ray tracing. Best Buy has the cheapest RTX 4060 Ti in the market right now, with the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Ti Gaming OC listed at $344.

Both the RTX 4060 Ti and the RTX 4060 appear to be designed to withstand a great degree of price cuts, to compete against the RX 7600 XT and RX 7600. The RTX 4060 Ti, much like the RX 7600 XT, features a small ASIC, and just four GDDR6 memory chips for its 128-bit memory bus, a simpler 8-lane PCIe interface; and in our opinion, a simpler VRM design than the RX 7600 XT. The bill of materials would boil down to the ASIC costs; while the RTX 4060 Ti uses a 188 mm² silicon built on the newer 5 nm node; the RX 7600 XT uses a larger 204 mm² albeit based on the older 6 nm node.

Gigabyte Mid-Range GPU Lineup Leaked, Radeon RX 7600 & RTX 4060 Ti Cards Incoming

Hardware tipster harukaze5719 has once again spotted the registration of a new set of Gigabyte products - the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has updated its registry with a slew of NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards - these listings were created this morning, and harukaze5719 picked up on this information almost immediately. Gigabyte's very mid-range new lineup is formed of nine RTX 4060 Ti GPU models and only a pair of Radeon RX 7600 GPU custom design cards - the common pattern is an allocation of 8 GB VRAM.

Gigabyte's two Radeon RX 7600 cards (Gaming & Gaming OC) are likely set for a May 25 launch, according to a combination of official AMD material and rumors from the past week or two - the slightly beefier Radeon RX 7600 XT is rumored to arrive on the same day. Leaked embargo information from earlier on this week suggests that NVIDIA is launching its GeForce RTX 4060 Ti lineup at the end of May, so an almost direct clash between it and AMD's upcoming Radeon 7600 and 7600 XT cards is expected to occur during that time period.

Alphacool Introduces Eiswolf 2 AiO for RTX 4080/4090 and RX 7900XT/XTX GPUs

Eiswolf 2 AiO - now also for custom designs of RTX 4080/4090 and RX 7900XT/XTX GPUs! Alphacool presents additional innovative solutions for cooling Nvidia's Geforce RTX 4080 and 4090 and AMD's RX 7900XT/XTX graphics cards.

The enormous waste heat of the new graphics card generation is excellently dissipated with these coolers. The very good water flow and the large cooling surface are due to the particularly filigree fin structure. The jet plate with revised inflow engine also distributes the water perfectly on the cooling fins. The complete chrome plating of the cooler not only provides resistant protection against acids, scratches and damage, but also achieves a beautiful homogeneity and remarkable shine. The Aurora design of the cooler is kept visually calm and simple. This is evident not only in the cooler's design, but also in the wonderfully even lighting achieved via digitally addressable RGB LEDs.

GIGABYTE Motherboards and Graphics Cards at the 2023 International CES

GIGABYTE displayed their latest motherboards and graphics cards at the 2023 International CES, covering their Socket LGA1700 Intel 700-series chipset; and Socket AM5 AMD 600-series chipset. The Z790 AORUS Tachyon is the company's top-grade LGA1700 motherboard targeting the professional overclocking crowd. The board is designed to chase down CPU and memory overclocking world records, featuring the company's most powerful CPU VRM solution, and a 1 DIMM-per-channel DDR5 memory setup that preferred by overclockers for supporting the highest memory overclocks with the tightest timings. There are several overclocker-friendly features besides the onboard buttons—dual-BIOS ROMs, angled connectors for bench cases, consolidated voltage measurement points, and a feature-packed BIOS setup program.

Over in the AMD side, GIGABYTE's top Socket AM5 motherboard is the X670E AORUS Xtreme, which is a feature-packed motherboard with possibly the strongest CPU VRM solutions in the market for Ryzen 7000 processors, and with the best VRM cooling. In addition to the PCIe Gen 5 M.2 slot wired to the AM5 SoC, you get additional Gen 5 slots that subtract from the x16 PEG slot. The AORUS Xtreme also has the most feature-rich BIOS available among GIGABYTE's AM5 lineup. The B650I AORUS Ultra is a premium Mini-ITX Socket AM5 motherboard based on the AMD B650 chipset. Despite its compact size, it gives you a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 PEG slot, a Gen 5 M.2 slot, and two additional Gen 4 M.2 slots, besides the latest wired- and wireless connectivity. We also snapped the B650 AERO G motherboard targeting creators, and the mainstream B650 AORUS Elite AX.

Gigabyte's and Sapphire's Radeon RX 7900-series Cards Pictured

Courtesy of VideoCardz, we now know what Gigabyte's and Sapphire's upcoming Radeon RX 7900-series cards will look like. Gigabyte will offer at least two different custom designed models, with the Aorus Elite being the higher-end one and the Gaming OC being the mainstream one. Both appear to come in RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT SKUs. The Aorus Elite is said to be a 3.5-slot card sporting three 8-pin power connectors, whereas the Gaming OC is a 2.5-slot card with two 8-pin power connectors.

The Sapphire card in question is the Nitro+ which has been given a design overhaul compared to the Radeon RX 6000-series cards and it's quite a bright card thanks to its silver coloured shroud. We're once again looking at a massive cooler here, which is wider than three slots, but maybe not quite 3.5-slots wide. Unsurprisingly, Sapphire has kitted out the card with three 8-pin power connectors. None of the three cards have a USB-C port and it appears that those looking to get an AMD Radeon RX 7900-series card with a USB-C port, would have to go for the reference design cards.

Alphacool Releases Eisblock Aurora Water Blocks for Various Custom RTX 4090 Cards

More performance for GeForce RTX 4090! With the Eisblock Aurora, Alphacool presents new, innovative coolers for active water cooling of Gigabyte, ASUS, Palit as well as Gainward graphics cards. In order to dissipate the enormous waste heat of this graphics card generation as effectively as possible, numerous optimizations have been made to the water cooler compared to the previous models. The fin structure has been adapted and allows a very effective water flow while simultaneously increasing the cooling surface. The modified jet plate with improved inflow engine ensures optimum distribution of the water on the cooling fins.

The fully chrome-plated copper base is resistant to acids, scratches and damage. Additionally, the chrome plating provides homogeneity and shine that cannot be achieved by nickel plating. The illumination from the digitally addressable RGB LEDs is even better distributed throughout the cooler thanks to the chrome plating. The Aurora design of the GeForce RTX 40XX Eisblock Generation is visually quiet and sleek because only one O-ring runs around the entire cooler. Also, the design around the cooling fins and jetplate makes for a cleaner look.

Most Expensive RTX 4080 Custom Just $50 Shy of the RTX 4090 MSRP: MicroCenter Pricing Leak

The most expensive custom-design NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 will be priced at $1,550, putting it just $50 short of the $1,600 baseline MSRP of the much faster RTX 4090, according to a pricing leak of custom-design cards on popular PC components retailer MicroCenter. The most interesting takeaway from this leak is that there will actually be RTX 4080 cards at the NVIDIA-set baseline MSRP of $1,200. These include the GIGABYTE Eagle, ZOTAC Trinity, ASUS TUF Gaming, and PNY XLR8 Verto. NVIDIA appears to be telling its partners to sell at least one custom-design RTX 4080 SKU at the baseline price.

Most factory-overclocked custom-design RTX 4080 SKUs are within $125 of the $1,200 baseline, with the GIGABYTE Eagle OC priced at $1,240, GIGABYTE Gaming OC at $1,280, MSI Ventus 3X OC at $1,280, and the premium MSI Gaming X Trio at $1,325. The top-tier custom-design cards start here, with the GIGABYTE AORUS Master priced at $1,350, the MSI SUPRIM X (air-cooled) at $1,400, the ZOTAC AMP Extreme AIRO at $1,400, ASUS TUF Gaming OC at $1,500; and the ASUS ROG Strix OC at $1,550, which is just $50 short of the cheapest RTX 4090 (baseline-spec). Will anyone pick the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 O16G over the cheapest RTX 4090 (assuming availability of both)? That's a social experiment to watch out for.

GIGABYTE RTX 4090 Goes on Sale in Hong Kong Well Ahead of Time, But it's a Paperweight Until Drivers Release

A GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC "Ada" graphics card allegedly went on sale way ahead of the October 12 retail availability date. The person who bought it, "Likhg," posted unboxing pictures of the card, revealing a gigantic 4-slot design, a triple-fan cooling solution, with flow-through for the third fan; and accessories that include a reinforcement brace with some screws, an NVIDIA adapter that converts four 8-pin PCIe power connectors into an ATX 12VHPWR connector, and well, that's about it. Graphics card manufacturers have mostly weaned away from including a driver DVD in the box, and point you to download the latest compatible drivers from the NVIDIA website, which means this card is a paperweight until we're closer to the retail date. We're hearing that whoever bought this card managed to resell it for a hefty profit.

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC Box Leaked

NVIDIA has a leaky tap to fix with the part of the supply chain that makes retail boxes for its next-gen graphics cards. After last weekend's leak of the ZOTAC RTX 4090, we now have one of the GIGABYTE RTX 4090 Gaming OC. It confirms the new typeface NVIDIA is using for the main branding of its RTX 40-series. The card itself features a mammoth triple-slot (possibly even quad-slot) cooling solution that's almost 1.5x what constitutes "full-height" for add-on cards. The box art also confirms 24 GB GDDR6X as the memory configuration of the RTX 4090. NVIDIA is expected to unveil the RTX 40-series next week at GTC; with retail availability from early-Q4 2022.

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Drops Below $1000-mark For the First Time

AMD's current-gen flagship graphics card, the Radeon RX 6900 XT, can be had for as low as $949, with US retailer Newegg listing a GIGABYTE RX 6900 XT Gaming OC graphics card at that price. This can be further lowered to $899 by availing Newegg's mail-in rebate. The GIGABYTE RX 6900 XT Gaming OC is the company's value-ended custom-design RX 6900 XT product positioned a notch below the company's AORUS Master card, but is still factory-overclocked, with its cooler posting lower temperatures than the reference-design. Catch our review of this card.

A drop in the pricing of the RX 6900 XT means that AMD's new RX 6950 XT could be right around the corner, with some sources claiming the card to match up to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, NVIDIA's fastest graphics card from this generation. The RX 6900 XT is still a mighty fast graphics card, trading blows with the RTX 3080 Ti.

Update May 5th: The price is up slightly to $999 ($949 with MIR), our assessment still holds.

Only the pump housing for the DC-LT 2 pump is a custom-made item that is only part of the scope of delivery of the AIO solution and is therefore not available separately.

Cancelled Gigabyte RTX 3080 Ti 20GB Achieves 98 MH/s in Ethereum Mining

NVIDIA was originally planning to release the RTX 3080 Ti with 20 GB of memory however this was changed shortly before the official announcement to 12 GB. This plan came very close to fruition with NVIDIA manufacturing and distributing these GPU's to board partners including Gigabyte, some of these completed cards have now been sold in limited quantities. The Gigabyte RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB Gaming OC was purchased by a Russian YouTuber who tested the card's cryptocurrency mining performance and uploaded the BIOS to our GPU database.

The RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB lacks official NVIDIA Game Ready drivers with Gigabyte Russia denying the existence of the model making cryptocurrency mining the only viable use for the product. The card doesn't feature the Lite Hash Rate (LHR) algorithm NVIDIA has been including on all their new cards including the RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB giving it excellent performance in Ethereum mining. The retailer had pre-configured the card with a 100 MHz boost clock increase and a 1000 MHz boost to the memory speed along with a TDP limiter of 80%.

The company will also sell reference-design "made by AMD" RX 6700 XT cards. The RX 6700 XT Gaming OC features a WindForce 3X cooling solution that looks practically identical to the Radeon RX 6800 Gaming OC card, with possible modifications to its heatsink's base-plate. Three aluminium fin-stacks are skewered by five 6 mm-thick copper heat-pipes that make direct contact with the GPU. Additional base-plates pull heat from the memory and VRM areas. The card draws power from a combination of 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs include two each of HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connectors.

The Radeon RX 6700 XT EAGLE is the more slender of the two custom-design RX 6700 XT cards by GIGABYTE. It is strictly 2 slots thick, and uses a slimmer heatsink. Three aluminium fin-stacks are joined by three 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes that make direct contact with the GPU. The power input configuration is the same as the Gaming OC card, as is the display output configuration. GIGABYTE didn't disclose the factory overclock speeds or either cards, but the Gaming OC card is expected to be the faster of the two. Both cards are expected to launch on March 18, 2021.

GIGABYTE Outs GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming OC WaterForce WB

GIGABYTE is ready with its GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming OC WaterForce WB graphics card. This card is extensively based on the company's more affordable Gaming OC custom-design RTX 3080 PCB, but comes with a factory-fitted full-coverage water-block, and is targeted at those with DIY liquid cooling setups. GIGABYTE sells another such custom RTX 3080 card, the RTX 3080 AORUS Xtreme WaterForce WB, which is based on the top-tier AORUS Xtreme PCB. The new RTX 3080 Gaming OC WaterForce WB is about 32 cm in length, same as the air-cooled card it's derived from, is 2 slots thick, and standard height. In comparison, the AORUS Xtreme WaterForce WB is 25.2 cm in length (just about the length of the PCB), 16.3 cm tall, and the block is single-slot thick, although its I/O forces it to be 2-slot.

The GIGABYTE RTX 3080 Gaming OC WaterForce WB uses nickel-plated copper as its primary material for the water-block, capped by an acrylic top that's mostly covered by by a plastic+metal shroud. The top is studded with addressable RGB LEDs that can be controlled using GIGABYTE's RGB Fusion software. The card comes with the same 1800 MHz GPU Boost factory-OC as its air-cooled sibling (compared to 1710 MHz reference). It does not come with the leak-detection feature you get with the AORUS Xtreme WaterForce WB. Connectivity includes three DisplayPort 1.4a and two HDMI 2.1 connectors. The card pulls power from two 8-pin PCIe inputs. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Update Mar 3rd: It appears that Gigabyte has used misleading renders and false claims when it comes to the composition of the water block. Recent findings from Igor's Lab confirm the use of mixed metals, including aluminium on the water block itself, that can lead to galvanic corrosion and blockage of the microfins over the GPU.

GIGABYTE Unveils Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming OC

GIGABYTE Monday released its first custom-design AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card, the Gaming OC (model: GV-R69XTGAMING OC-16GD). As of this writing, the company hasn't yet announced RX 6900 XT based cards under its coveted AORUS Gaming series. The RX 6900 XT Gaming OC features a mostly similar board design to the RX 6800 XT Gaming OC, with a large triple-slot cooling solution, and a custom-design PCB. The cooler features three aluminium fin-stacks skewered by six 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes that make contact with the GPU and memory through a copper base-plate, while secondary base-plates pull heat from the VRM.

What sets the RX 6900 XT Gaming OC board design apart from its RX 6800 XT-based sibling, is a slightly bolstered VRM setup that pulls power from three 8-pin PCIe power connectors, as opposed to two on the RX 6800 XT Gaming OC. As a factory-overclocked card, the RX 6900 XT Gaming OC offers Boost frequencies of up to 2285 MHz (compared to 2250 MHz reference), and an increased power-limit. The card features dual-BIOS, and the default "OC" BIOS features these clock-speeds, while the "Silent" BIOS possibly trades off some power-limit for an aggressive fan-curve. Display outputs include two each of HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a connectors, there's no USB-C. The company didn't reveal pricing.

GIGABYTE Outs Radeon RX 6800 Series AORUS Master and Gaming OC Graphics Cards
