MSI Launches the MAG Trident S 5M Desktop PC

MSI released a new gaming desktop, the MAG Trident S 5M, a machine dedicated to cloud gaming and mobile gaming. It is different from traditional gaming desktops and focuses more on helping gamers enjoy games in the living room. Gamers only need to activate the Android system emulator (MSI APP Player) and the 30-day free XBOX GAME PASS ULTIMATE through the Game Stadium software exclusively developed by MSI to control mobile games on the sofa with only one joystick. You can easily access cloud games and other entertainment software.

The exclusive MSI APP Player allows players to emulate the Android system in the Windows system. Gamers can experience mobile games on a larger screen with better performance. They can also use the Multi-Instance Manager function to open different games in different windows. Certain games can also enable joystick mode, allowing players to use the same joystick to play. In STEAM, you can play games through the built-in Big Screen Mode. In Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, there is the same operation mode to let you use the joystick directly so that it can be perfectly applied to various game software.

MSI Intros MAG H670 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 Motherboard

Intel debuted its Socket LGA1700 motherboard lineup with Z690, and later B660 and H610 chipset options, but the H670 seemed elusive. Motherboard vendors are slowly launching their H670-based offerings, and MSI joined the party with the MAG H670 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4. The board is very similar in design to the company's MAG B660 Tomahawk-series motherboards, but with a little more I/O, and a broader chipset bus. The key feature that sets the H670 apart from the B660 is the 8-lane DMI 4.0 chipset bus, compared to 4-lane DMI 4.0 on the B660.

Another key difference between the H670 Tomahawk and B660 Tomahawk is that the PCI-Express x16 slot is Gen 5 capable on the H670 board, but this is due to MSI's design choices. On paper, B660 platforms can have Gen 5 PEG slots. Yet another key differentiator between the H670 and B660 chipsets, is that the H670 puts out 12 PCIe Gen 4 downstream lanes, and MSI leveraged this to put out two chipset-attached M.2 NVMe slots with Gen 4 x4 wiring. Connectivity includes a 2.5 GbE wired networking interface driven by an Intel i225-V controller, an Intel AX200 WiFi 6 + Bluetooth 5.2 module; and 8-channel HD audio driven by the 12-year old Realtek ALC897 CODEC. The company didn't reveal pricing.

In spite of the removal of these paper appendices, users can find all the information in digital format, no matter via MSI website, QR code on color box, or digital manual.

MSI Readies MAG CoreLiquid-R V2 WHITE Series AIO Liquid CPU Coolers

MSI is updating its MAG CoreLiquid-R line of all-in-one liquid CPU coolers from 2020 with the new V2 series. Available in its standard black, and now, the new all-white color trim. These coolers are every bit identical to the original CoreLiquid-R series from 2020, except out-of-the-box support for Intel Socket LGA1700. The White trim covers the water-block, the Nylon sleeves of the tubing, the fan-frames, and the radiator. A characteristic feature of the CoreLiquid-R is the integration of pump with the radiator instead of the water-block; leaving it relatively lightweight. The ARGB-illuminated top of the water-block rotates, letting you reorient the MSI Gaming logo.

MSI Formally Launches the MEG Z690 GODLIKE Motherboard

As Intel launched the 12th Gen Core processors and immediately gained lots of attention, MSI also released many motherboards for various usages. However, the best has yet to come until now. Today, the last member of the Z690 platform is here. The one board to rule them all - MEG Z690 GODLIKE. GODLIKE's number one goal for the end-users is evident, designed for the best performance and experience enabled by truly remarkable systems. Whether it's record-breaking overclocking, ultra-customization of ARGB lighting with touch control LCD dashboard, or simply the desire to build the most powerful system imaginable, the MEG Z690 GODLIKE stands unrivaled at the pinnacle of all the Z690 motherboard capabilities.

It is covered in dark, deep, and full aluminium heatsink fashioned with a triangular grid pattern. The illuminating dragon nebula with tempered glass reveals the power with a column of faith and meteor RGB effect. The MEG Z690 GODLIKE symbolizes the endless power of the one universe, ready for every challenge.

MSI Rolls Out Clutch GM41 Lightweight V2 Gaming Mouse

MSI today rolled out the Clutch GM41 Lightweight V2 gaming mouse. A wired cousin of the original GM41 series from 2020/21, the "V2" in the model name of the new mouse denotes a change to the mouse's cable, with the use of low-friction sleeving. It uses the same 16,000 dpi sensor and switches as the original. The mouse features NVIDIA Reflex support. The 50G acceleration, and 400 IPS tracking speed, however, remain unchanged. What's also not changed is the mouse's design, its pseudo-ambidextrous 6-button layout that uses Omron-made switches rated for 60 million clicks, and the FriXionFree Cable that's designed to reduce friction from the desk. The company didn't mention pricing.

MSI Partially Reenables AVX-512 Support for Alder Lake-S Processors

Intel's Alder Lake processors have two types of cores present, with two distinct sets of features and capabilities enabled. For example, smaller E-cores don't support the execution of AVX-512 instructions, while the bigger P-cores have support for AVX-512 instructions. So Intel has decided to remove support for it altogether not to create software errors and run into issues with executing AVX-512 code on Alder Lake processors. This happened just months before the launch of Alder Lake, making us see some initial motherboard BIOSes come with AVX-512 enabled from the box. Later on, all motherboard makers pulled the plug on it, and it is a rare sight to see support for it.

However, it seems like MSI is unhappy with the lack of AVX-512, and the company is reenabling partial support for it. According to Xaver Amberger, editor at Igor's Lab, MSI reintroduces selecting microcode version with its MEG Z690 Unify-X motherboard. There is an option for AVX-512 enablement in the menu, and it is indeed a functional one. With BIOS A22, MSI enabled AVX-512 instruction execution, and there are benchmarks to prove it works. This shows an advantage of 512-bit wide execution units of AVX-512 over something like AVX2, which offers only 256-bit wide execution units. In applications such as Y-Cruncher, AVX-512 enabled the CPU to reach higher performance targets while consuming less power.

MSI and Phison Partner to Launch Spatium E26 PCIe Gen5 AIC SSD

Phison is on a mission to be the first to market with PCIe Gen 5 SSD controllers, having announced the E26-series controllers this CES. The company is ready with a branded drive under the MSI Spatium brand, the MSI Spatium E26. Built in the PCIe add-in-card (AIC) form-factor, the drive features a PCI-Express 5.0 x4 interface (128 Gbps per direction), and very likely sticks to the reference design that Phison demoed in its own booth.

This PCB is used in its client configuration, with just the controller, DRAM, and NAND flash chips; while the PCB allows an enterprise configuration with banks of capacitors offering explicit power-loss protection (the NAND flash chips offer implicit PLP). A simple copper-film heatspreader is used. Neither MSI nor Phison put out actual performance numbers, but mentioned sequential reads being "10 GB/s or beyond" (the interface is physically capable of 16 GB/s).

Update Jan 17th: MSI clarified that this is not yet a shipping product, but a representation of what such a device could be. Thus, this should be considered a concept or at best proof of concept. Both MSI and Phison are actively working together on exploring what such a retail product could be.

MSI Teases RadiX AXE6600 Router at CES

Although not much is known about MSI's upcoming router, the company was teasing the RadiX AXE6600 during its virtual CES event. It's said to be a WiFi 6E router based on an unspecified 1.8 GHz Qualcomm SoC. The AXE6600 in the model name should break down to 600 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band, 1200 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and 4800 MHz in the 6 GHz band, if routers with the same speed rating are anything to go by. In fact, the specs seem to be similar to the Linksys Hydra Pro 6E, as it seems to be based on the same or at least a similar SoC from Qualcomm.

The one thing that is obvious, especially from MSI's teaser on Twitter, is that the router will have plenty of RGB bling built into the antennas. The MSI dragon logo on the router, is a button according to Tom's hardware, that is said to cycle through various "AI" QoS presets. How useful or practical this will be in reality, is up for debate. The router is still a good few months out, with an expected launch sometime in the second half of this year. And if you're wondering, yes, MSI have made routers before, but it was quite some time ago and they weren't particularly popular.

Leaked Document Confirms That MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X Graphics Card Launches January 27th

In the past few months, we have heard rumors of NVIDIA launching an upgraded version of the GA102 silicon called GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The upgraded version is supposed to max out the chip and bring additional performance to the table. According to anonymous sources of VideoCardz, MSI, one of NVIDIA's add-in board (AIB) partners, is preparing to update its SUPRIM X lineup of graphics cards with the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X GPU, scheduled for January 27th launch date. This suggests that the official NDA lifts for these RTX 3090 Ti GPUs on January 27th, meaning that we could see AIBs teasing their models very soon.

As a general reminder, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card should use a GA102-350 silicon SKU with 84 SMs, 10752 CUDA cores, 336 TMUs, 24 GB of GDDR6X memory running on a 384-bit bus at 21 Gbps speed with 1008 GB/s bandwidth, and a TBP of a whopping 450 Watts. If these specifications remain valid, the GPU could become the top contender in the market, however, with a massive drawback of pulling nearly half a KiloWatt of power.

MSI Intros GeForce RTX 2060 12GB Ventus Graphics Card

MSI introduced its first two graphics cards on the necromanced GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB, The new RTX 2060 12 GB SKU formally launched on December 7, and pairs features 2,176 CUDA cores (compared to 1,920 on the original RTX 2060). It uses 12 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit wide memory bus, which is what separates it from the RTX 2060 SUPER. MSI is pairing it with the company's latest iteration of the Ventus 2X dual-fan cooling solution. The RTX 2060 12 GB Ventus sticks to NVIDIA-reference clock speeds of 1650 MHz boost; while the factory-overclocked Ventus OC runs the GPU at 1710 MHz boost. The memory is untouched on both cards at 14 Gbps. We have no prices at hand for the RTX 2060 12 GB, since NVIDIA didn't put out any SEP. We've seen these cards go for around $550.
