Cooler Master showed off a new line of performance-segment PSUs under its V-series. Consisting of three models, the V700 (700W), V850 (850W) and V1000 (1000W), the three boast of 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating (90 percent efficiency at 50 percent load, 87 percent efficiency at 100 percent load).

The three feature fully modular cabling (including 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS); four 6+2 pin PCIe connectors on the V700, and six on the V850 and V1000; and all modern protection features. It's reported that the three are originally manufactured by Seasonic. Pricing and availability are under the wraps.

Rosewill announced the SilentNight 500W fanless PSU and Tachyon 550W. The two 80 Plus Platinum-compliant PSUs were launched earlier today. The SilentNight 500W appears to be based on a Super Flower platform, and uses a chunky aluminum heatsink that makes direct contact with hot components such as FETs, to cool itself, without needing a fan. It features sufficient cabling for a mid-range dual-GPU gaming PC, including a pair 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, 8-pin EPS, 24-pin ATX, and up to six SATA power connectors. It uses a partially-modular cabling layout.

The Tachyon 550W, on the other hand, uses a slow (quiet) temperature-controlled 140 mm fan to cool itself. It packs an identical contingent of cables to the SilentNight 500W. Both models feature single +12V rail designs, modern regulatory compliances, and protection against a variety of electrical anomalies, such as over/under voltage, overload, short-circuit, overheat, etc. The two will occupy price points around US $100.

The launch of the Seasonic Platinum series has achieved great success last year. The fully modular Platinum-860W and Platinum-1000W power supplies have won numerous accolades and became standards of excellence for the 80 Plus Platinum design throughout the entire industry.

Seasonic launched its G-Series mid-range modular PSUs in select markets over the weekend. The lineup consists of 80 Plus Gold certified semi-modular PSUs in entry thru mid-range capacities, including 360W (G-360), 450W (G-450), 550W (G-550), and 650W (G-650). The lineup is characterized by single +12V rail design, DC-DC switching, LLC resonant topology, Japanese-made conductive polymer capacitors, and 120 mm cooling fans. The PSUs typically have key connectors such as ATX, EPS, and a set of PCIe wired permanently, with other connectors offered as detachable (modular) ones. In Quarter 4, 2011, Sea Sonic will introduce many new and exciting products. First will be the start of our Platinum series and then the completion of our award winning X - Gold series followed by a whole new Gold - G series and upgraded M12II.
