SteelSeries Announces Rival 600 Gaming Mouse

Today, SteelSeries announces a new innovation in gaming sensor technology with the Rival 600 gaming mouse and TrueMove3+ dual sensor system. Unveiled at CES 2018, the TrueMove3+ dual sensor system features the SteelSeries TrueMove3 as its primary sensor, but also features a second optical sensor that exclusively tracks lift-off distance. The Rival 600 is a gaming mouse designed for competitive gamers who want the most accurate sensor available and unlimited physical and technical customization options. This technology removes all possibility of jitter and cursor disparity on liftoff movements and offers the lowest lift-off distance in the market.

"This is a breakthrough in gaming mouse sensor technology," said SteelSeries CEO, Ehtisham Rabbani. "We took a massive leap forward in sensor innovation with Pixart with the TrueMove3 sensor in the Rival 310 and Sensei 310. Now we're taking that innovation even further by combining the true 1-to-1 tracking of the TrueMove3 with a second optical sensor for precision. It's the only dual optical sensor system in the world that can offer this level of precision and accuracy of movement."

MSI and SteelSeries Partner in Lighting Up Your World - Sync RGB

It would seem like companies MSI and SteelSeries are reaching a somewhat strategic partnership when it comes to lighting up your PC and peripherals of choice. As you are all well aware, most companies now offer products with RGB lighting, from motherboards to AIOs and RAM. We covered SteelSeries' own QcK Prism mouse mat some days ago, and you would think the folks at MSI were impressed by SteelSeries' RGB "savoir-faire."

MSI is allowing you to control LED lighting on only one of their motherboards for now - the Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon. This looks like a tentative partnership, for now, but could soon be expanded to more RGB-equipped MSI motherboards. SteelSeries' Engine 3 (SSE3) is the application, developed by SteelSeries, that will allow you to sync your motherboard's lighting with that of your other SteelSeries peripherals, ensuring a single "LED lighting language" across your desk space. The two main lighting features of SSE3 are PrismSync and GameSense. PrismSync controls all the lighting effects in the usual "choose your own color" metric, while GameSense dynamically adjusts lighting effects according to what's happening on your games of choice, like syncing colors to your in-game health or other metrics. This is yet another step towards the integration of LED lighting in our daily computing lives. At least now you can control all LED lighting from different manufacturers (well, just two manufacturers, really) through a single application. Exciting times.

SteelSeries Announces the QcK Prism Mouse Mat - 360º RGB Illumination

If you've ever wondered if you could get even more bling for your wrist area, and an RGB-crazed playground for your hairless rodent of choice, you need not look any further. SteelSeries has just announced availability of their QcK Prism mouse mat, which offers a psychedelic 360º of RGB illumination. All of this is powered by USB, but we do have an abundance of those on the back of our rigs (and in some of our monitors as well.)

This is achieved by a total of 12 separate, RGB-lighted zones, which integrate a 356.71 x 292.4 mm area (with 8.68 mm height.) The mouse sports a dual-sided, reversible design, with premium micro-textured cloth on one side (for added friction) and a hard polymer surface for faster gliding movements on the other. Users can just flip the side they want on top, laying it over the RGB-illuminated base to play with the surface resistance type that they prefer. It is also controllable via the SteelSeries Engine software and supports SteelSeries GameSense which will allow the QcK Prism to react to in-game events such as low ammo, health, kills, cooldown timers and more. Interestingly, SteelSeries pits its QcK directly against Razer's Firefly (I really like the "intuitive cable placement" selling point.) The SteelSeries QcK will be available to light your world for $59.99, or a murderous 75€.

SteelSeries Sentry Eye-Tracker Spices Up Streams

You always watched them make those quick and winning moves, without quite knowing the key element behind them - their eyesight. Looking at the right portion of your game screen is the most important part of gaming, and the Sentry eye-tracker lets game-streamers highlight portions of the screen they're looking at. The tracker is a thin black strip that you tuck under your monitor, with optical sensors facing you.

These sensors track your eye movements at 50 frames per second. While it may not be a tracking-device in itself, it lets you place a highlighting overlay, or a PIP inlay window within your stream, which lets viewers see exactly what you're looking at. For those not streaming, the device gives you insights to your gameplay style, letting you improve your reflexes. A live-demo of Sentry was put up at CES, and we can tell you that it works! Available now, the Sentry is priced at 199€.
