CPU Performance Results

I spent a week with the ASRock Z77 OC Formula before beginning our performance testing, running various configurations and CPUs, and checking hardware compatibility. We verified our power consumption numbers using various different power supplies and played a few hours of games with some members of the TPU community to get an overall feel for the board and to verify stability. Once completed, we tore down the system, mounted our Noctua cooler, and put the board through the paces.

SuperPi

SuperPI serves as our memory-focused benchmark, being highly single-threaded. The ASRock Z77 OC Formula did very very well here. The top two results used elevated PCU speeds actually making the ASRock Z77 OC Formula the best performer here.

wPrime

wPrime is much more CPU-focused, and here the ASRock Z77 OC Formula disappointed a little bit by sitting in last place.

WinRAR

WinRAR shows the ASRock Z77 OC Formula as an average performer missing out on the top by about 100 KB/s.

AIDA64

I use AIDA64's memory benchmark to highlight memory bandwidth. Here, read performance was a bit low, but latency performance was exceptionally good, while the other two tests posted pretty average results. Perhaps ASRock traded latency for read performance?

HandBrake Encoding

Handbrake is used for encoding testing and provided unexciting results with the ASRock Z77 OC Formula performing a bit low.

CineBench Encoding

In Cinebench, the ASRock Z77 OC Formula gave results that are much the same.
