Our data acquisition system for graphics cards power consumption testing now runs at a higher sample rate, and automation capabilities have been expanded. With 40 samples per second, we're now collecting data much faster than before, four times as fast as NVIDIA's PCAT. Every single data point is recorded digitally—previously, we could only get averages and peaks.
Idle power consumption is outstanding with just 5 watts. Just like previous Radeon cards, the memory is run at full speed when multiple displays are connected or there's video playback, which increases power consumption considerably, but it's still low enough not to be worrying.
With just 100 W during gaming, the RX 6500 XT uses extremely little power for a 1080p-capable graphics card. Overall efficiency, aka performance per watt, is still low because gaming performance isn't high at all.
