Introduction

From the Cooler Master website:
Cooler Master was founded with the mission of providing the industry's best thermal solutions. Since its establishment two decades ago, the company has remained faithful to this mission, emerging as a world leader in products and services for companies dealing with devices where heat issues must be resolved.

Cooler Master is an industry leader when it comes to PC peripherals, cooling, cases, and power supplies. They have products that fit just about every need and price segment in nearly every conceivable category. That said, Cooler Master's real claim to fame has always been their wide selection of cases, like the Cosmos and HAF series that have garnered a great deal of accolades and attention from reviewers and enthusiasts alike.

In today's review, I will be taking a look at the Hyper 212X, a new rendition of the famous Hyper 212+ and its successor, the 212 EVO. The 212X features a single-tower design with a single fan and four heatpipes. Considering how similar the 212X is to the EVO, it will be interesting to figure out whether it is a solid improvement over the older EVO.

Packaging and Contents

Cooler Master's Hyper 212X comes in a box that measures in at roughly 15.8 cm in length, 8.9 cm in width, and 22.8 cm in height. On its top, we simply find the product's name. On the front are a large picture of the cooler and a list of a few of the cooler's features, such as the continuous direct contact heatpipes and tunnel effect technologies, among others. The left side details the cooler's specifications.

You will find a quick list of features in various languages and a few diagrams for the cooler's height, width, and length on the back of the box. The right side simply shows the cooler's direct contact heatpipe base.

Opening the box, I was first greeted by the mounting hardware in a smaller box. Underneath it are the heatsink, fan, and backplate inside a plastic insert. Not exactly the greatest of packaging materials, this constellation isn't surprising since the Hyper 212X is for the entry level market.

Cooler Master's mounting hardware for the Hyper 212X is much the same as with previous versions. It supports pretty much every socket imaginable and does so with a universal mounting system. This keeps the small parts and unnecessary pieces to a minimum, which is definitely nice to see.
