Surface and Materials

A number of different coatings are used on the mouse shell. The main buttons are slightly grainy, matte plastic, and the same can be said of the two front left buttons. The scroll wheel's surface is made out of textured rubber, and the two profile buttons beneath it are glossy. The whole inlay containing these two buttons is glossy as well. Moving to the palm rest area, it has a textured rubberization all over it that feels great to the touch, and even though my palms are sweaty, it pretty much eliminated any kind of slipping.

Moving on to the side areas, the side panels feature the same rubberized finish as the palm rest, but with a different texturing at the left panel's top area, which feels a bit smoother to the touch. The three side buttons are all glossy, and the same can be said of the remaining inlays on the mouse.

Build Quality

The Nightsword's build quality is simply excellent. The two left side buttons at the front (which I'll call CPI-changers from now on) can wiggle around their place, causing slight rattling, but this only happens if you really want them to rattle. I never experienced it during normal use, even when I landed huge swipes across the mouse pad.

Weight

Moving on to the weight, this mouse has an adjustable weight system. By default, I measured 120 grams, which is already pretty hefty, but for its size, it still doesn't feel that heavy. There's a cover at the bottom of the mouse you need to remove to add up to 6 weight cylinders, resulting in a total maximum mass of 143 grams on my scale. Now, that's heavy! I know a lot of people still prefer heavy mice, but bear in mind that your wrists will thank you for using a lighter mouse in the long run, especially if you are playing high-paced games. In my opinion, the stock weight of this product should be around 100 grams as I would then be able to call the weight-tunability justified.

Overall, the mouse feels well-balanced; it's not front or rear heavy, and you can shave off a few grams if you remove the weight cover entirely.
