G.SKILL F1-3200USU2-2GBHS PC3200 Review

Value and Conclusion

  • The 2GB G.SKILL F1-3200USU2-2GBHS kit will cost you $200, which I find is very cheap for overclocker's memory like this.
  • Great overclocker, for 1 GB value sticks
  • Cheap
  • Nice blue heatspreaders
  • Cheap
  • Just needs 2.8V to get best performance
  • Cheap
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Cheap
  • Needs better timings at 200 MHz
  • No voltage scaling beyond 2.8V
  • SPD incorrectly programmed
$200 for 2GB - You can't go wrong with these.
The memory performs really well for its bargain price. Reaching DDR500 at 2.5-3-3-8 is Samsung TCCD level. So if you are looking to spend little money and do some overclocking you should really check out these sticks. People who only want to run 200MHz and do no overclocking should look for some CL2 sticks such as G.Skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX (2-3-2-5), which cost about the same.
Maybe you should think twice about spending $170 - $180 for Samsung TCCD based memory if you can get almost the same performance, with double the capacity for only $30 more.
With 2GB Windows feels much smoother and the new games such as Quake 4, F.E.A.R. and Battlefield 2 also benefit from 2GB.
