A Closer Look

These Sniper X sticks definitely have a different look from past G.SKILL products. These aren't the same old heatsinks slapped on new DIMMs; these are new designs through and through.

The black heatspreader dominates the majority of the Sniper X stick's face, with a custom motif at the top that matches the board each set of sticks is intended to be used in. We find a product label on one side of the DIMMs.

The heatspreader wraps around the end of the stick at the top, leaving literally no room for airflow under the heatspreader. That is not a big deal; as you can see, the heatspreader is very close to the DIMM's PCB surface and covers each individual IC very well.

The label denotes the usual stuff you find from G.SKILL.

We find a Sniper X logo at one end and G.SKILL logo on the other.

Because the heatspreader covers the edge of the DIMMs, noticing any sort of markings left here is rather difficult. You can see in the second image above that G.SKILL printed something on to the PCB's surface, but seeing it properly is rather difficult.

It seems I found a bit more hidden on the other side as well, but I don't know whether this is actual useful information for those of us who are into overclocking memory. I usually find markings that denote the DIMM's speed and size here, but it seems that printing was smudged or something because I couldn't read the markings very well. Such is life, I guess.
