Intel Haswell i5-4670K vs. i7-4770K Comparison Review

Intel, the world's leading semiconductor company, released a new series of CPUs called Haswell two months ago. The Haswell series succeeds Ivy Bridge, whose most popular models we compared. This time, Intel moved on to the new Socket 1150. As previously, there are different chipsets as well: the H81, H87, and Z87. Of the above, only Z87 supports overclocking natively. The other chipsets have some overclocking options but rumor has it that Intel will stop those in the future.

Now, more about our processors. Coming with unlocked multipliers, which increases the potential for higher overclocks, both chips are part of the K series. Intel has been using the K to describe unlocked processors since Clarkdale. As with our previous comparison, the main differences between the two processors are the size of L3 cache and the ability to use Hyper-Threading on the Core i7-4770K.

Haswell Models

The Core i5-4670K has 33% less cache than the Core i7-4770K and no Hyper-Threading. The Core i7-4770K's Hyper-Threading feature helps by creating four additional virtual cores for a total of eight threads, which increases performance during multitasking procedures.

The main differences between these two processors, as mentioned before, are the size of L3 cache and the inclusion or exclusion of Hyper-Threading Technology. Both processors use the same Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics core.
