Packaging

Lexar provided me with two single 16 GB samples because the retail 2x 16 GB kits weren't yet in production when this was shipped out to me. Normally, I would say two singles are not a good representation of the final product. However, due to the intended market, purchasing multiple singles of these for the PC instead shouldn't result in any issues. The likelihood of a compatibility issue is as high as with a kit of two since the memory is following JEDEC DDR4-3200 specifications, which in of itself is already highly compatible with a wide range of computer setups.

The Lexar Desktop Memory packing covers the basics by listing the product name, rated speed, and module density. It is really simple, which is completely fine. No need to spend extra money on fancy packaging for this type of product.

Flip the box around and the back has other important information potential buyers will likely want, including the acceptable operating temperature, voltage, type of interface, DIMM dimensions, and intended operating frequencies. You can always go lower in range with any memory kit, just not higher all the time.

It should be noted that "3200Mbps" is not the correct notation for system memory frequency. In fact, it is not an accurate denotation at all. Mbps would make sense for flash memory packaging. Having it labeled wrong is a major oversight as the target audience is in my opinion going by the motherboard QVL list or a select few key words—3200 MHz, 3200 MT/s, or PC4-25600. If you do not know what you are looking at and are strictly going by a recommendation from a technician, the "Mbps" will throw you off. None of this actually affects the system memory in any physical way. It is just a typo on the box that can hurt sales.

Cut the tape and take a look inside! The memory stick is kept secure and free of minor damage with a clamshell inside the outer box. This one came with a little paper guide for installation and proper handling.
