Out of the box, the Air X comes with a further layer of protection on the glass panel in thin plastic film. Overall, the design features several subtle but edgy lines as well as a unique metal grill, which looks great, but may be a bit more restrictive than a classic grill or mesh.

That metal grill is actually shaped nicely and comes with a Montech logo on the bottom. Looking at the chassis, the Air X can absolutely hold its own with all the well-known brands out there in terms of feel and design for this price segment. You may pull the whole front off to reveal two 200 mm ARGB fans, while the rear presents a classic layout with a bottom-mounted PSU bay.

The window of the Montech Air X is secured from the rear, which results in a clean look. Additionally, it is framed in a black frame and essentially clear, so you should have no issues showing off your hardware. On the opposite side, the chassis is completely solid with two further thumb screws holding this panel in place.

Looking at the rear, the bottom PSU bay comes with a single set of mounting holes. Above that are the eight expansion slots with reusable covers, which is nice to see. In the very top, you will find another 120 mm fan set to push hot air out the back of the Air X.

In the top, you will find a black metal mesh cover that is held in place magnetically. Underneath it are offset mounting holes for either two 120 mm or two 140 mm fans. With them so far away from the motherboard side, you may opt for up to a 280 mm radiator here without issue. The I/O panel is on the side of this air vent and comes with two USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 as well as the usual audio plugs. Montech also includes an LED toggle button, which isn't hooked up to anything but allows you to expand your case lighting with your own controller.

On the underside, things are a bit simpler with a basic metal mesh cover protecting the PSU from dust and grime. An easily removable dust filter would have been awesome, but considering the price tag, this will do just fine.
