Introduction

MSI Logo

Many of you might not be aware of this, but MSI is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, and boy have they ever done a great job at making some compelling products to celebrate those 30 years they've been in the PC market! To top it off on the GAMING front, MSI has released a complete 4K and VR ready PC that supports dual videocards (up to GTX 1080s) without taking up too much space on your desk, the MSI Aegis Ti.

MSI's Aegis Ti is packed with all the features you might expect from Intel's Skylake platform, including great power usage numbers that don't break the bank, while also offering maximum performance when you need it, including some overclocking with just a touch of a button. The Aegis Ti is available in many different configurations from your favorite system builders, as well as being purchasable as just a barebones unit ready for your choice of CPU, VGAs, memory, and drives. No matter what level of gaming performance you are after, MSI's Aegis Ti is ready.

MSI sent me what they consider their standard configuration; an Intel Core i7-6700K, 32 GB of RAM, dual Samsung 256 GB M.2 SSDs in RAID, a 2 TB mechanical for storage, a 850W 80-PLUS Platinum PSU, and dual GTX 1070 GPUs. The custom-designed motherboard has built-in WiFi, USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C, and a bunch of other goodies, and the case itself has separate cooling chambers for the CPU, GPUs, mechanical HDDs, and PSU, all in an effort to minimize fan noise so that your GAMING experience is the best it can possibly be.

Packaging

I had done some research on MSI's product page before receiving my sample of the Aegis Ti, so when the courier dropped boxes off at my doorstep and quickly drove away, I was pleased to see the large box for the Aegis Ti among them. The box itself is nicely designed, with large graphics to give you a good idea of what's inside without having to open the box, and there aren't a huge number of unnecessary logos and such to make the box's aesthetics a mad mess.

One side of the box covers some feature highlights, and that's about all there is to find, which is a nice departure from the motherboard boxes I am used to. Once I opened the box, I was pleased to see an accessories box up top. The Aegis Ti itself is packaged in thick foam to help ensure its nearly 45 pounds of packaged weight makes it to your door safely.

Contents

Normally, this is the place where I'd have a picture of all the included accessories; however, this PC was a show demo unit that didn't include all the accessories. I did manage to obtain a list of what is normally found in the little brown box, so you'll find that below:
  • User's manual, quick start guide, warranty card
  • 1 x MSI Aegis Ti GAMING PC
  • 1 x Power cable
  • 1 x Driver disc
  • 1 x HDMI VR Link cable
  • 1 x Bag of 2.5" and 2.5" drive mounting hardware
  • 2 x Wi-Fi antennae
