Introduction

From the Manufacturer Mushkin:
  • Frequency: 800MHz
  • Latency: 4-4-3-10
  • Parity: Unbuffered
  • Voltage: 1.9V-2.1V
  • Pins: 240
  • Module: 64Mx64
  • Chip: 64Mx8

Packaging

The memory comes in this clear plastic package. The backside has a load of information. The first paragraph talks about the memory installation. Paragraph number two is about troubleshooting and what to do in case the machine locks up during POST.

Mushkin uses two points where the case is sealed by molten plastic. This makes it a lot easier to open than a regular blister pack. Still it leaves the package in a not so nice shape after opening.

The black matte heatspreaders look very stylish and elegant.

A closer look

The sticker tells you the product name and the standard timings. 4-4-3-10 is very good for a DDR2-600 memory kit. Many other manufacturers give you only 5-5-x-x.

Mushkin uses their new heatspreaders which were announced some time last year. They have improved thermal properties.

If you look closely you can see how one side of the module has only white tape and all memory chips are on the other side.

The PCB is made by Brainpower, who are the most popular memory PCB manufacturer.
