Finally! NVIDIA has adopted idle fan stop on their Founders Edition. This has been one of the major reasons for people not to buy previous FE cards and also means AMD now has to follow through with it as well to stay competitive.
NVIDIA's fan-stop mechanism has a much longer delay than what we're used to. Not problematic in any way, I just noticed the longer timeout of up to seven minutes.
Gaming noise levels are comparable to previous RTX 2080 Founders Edition cards, which were of course much lower in performance and heat output. A 320 W dual-slot card that's as quiet as the RTX 3080 Founders Edition is quite an achievement. Still, the card is definitely not whisper-quiet, but at least that leaves something for board partners to address with their custom designs. The fans have pleasant acoustics, definitely more "whoosh" than whine, which is very acceptable.
