  • The Rosewill Hercules 1600 W retails for $399.99.
  • Delivered full power at 47°C
  • Monstrous capacity (the strongest PSU I ever tested)
  • Very good ripple suppression at +12V
  • Efficient
  • Huge number of connectors (16x PCIe!)
  • Few native cables
  • Comes in an amazing storage case
  • Japanese caps
  • Switch to engage turbo fan mode
  • Five-year warranty
  • Very high price
  • Extra-large dimensions
  • Low hold-up time
  • 3.3V performance in the Advanced Transient Response tests
  • Weird fan profile
Capable of delivering 1.76 kW at 47°C, the Hercules-1600 is the strongest PSU I have ever tested. This is raw power, and even four-VGA systems won't manage to push this unit to its limits. Rosewill entered the ultra-high league with the Hercules, making crystal clear that they don't only release mainstream and mid-level products but also have products for enthusiast users of the very high-end. I am not sure if its 16 PCIe connectors will really be of use to anyone, but many people still like the idea of a real power house inside their chassis, and this unit is made for them. Also, the package accommodating this unit is stylish, and I am referring to the metallic storage unit matching such an expensive product well. The Hercules-1600 uses nothing but Japanese caps, has great ripple suppression, high overall efficiency, and is supported by a five-year warranty. The major downsides I spotted are its extra-large dimensions, which demand for a special chassis, low hold-up time, weird fan profile, which is most likely due to a defective fan controller since such things can even happen with high-end products, and its incredibly high price. Currently one of the most expensive PSUs, though its price is partially justified by its storing unit of high quality, you can still find the same platform for $120 less under a different branding. However, its $120 cheaper iteration lacks not only the case but also the five-year warranty, and its internal component selection will probably differ as well.

Another review has come to its end, and I have to summarize my final thoughts in one paragraph. Although I like such monstrous PSUs, I think that 1600 W will probably be of no use to most of you, and its price tag is truly huge. Nevertheless, the Rosewill Hercules looks like the perfect candidate if cost isn't an issue and you want a PSU that can power two high-end systems at the same time. There is a competitor for much less, which is why I would advice Rosewill to lose the expensive metallic storage case in an attempt to lower the price and raise the price/performance ratio by as much as possible. That said, the aforementioned case does make the Hercules-1600 stand out of the crowd, and I admit that I liked it very much, along with the unit's huge power output, of course!
