A Closer Look

Scythe's Katana 4 CPU cooler is comprised out of forty-two aluminum fins and three 6 mm heatpipes. A traditional tower heatsink that weighs 480 g with the fan, It is no heavyweight, that's for sure.

The only aspects of this heatsink that really stand out are its capped heatpipes with their unique appearance and the Aero Tuning Fin Structure (A.T.F.S).

The top of the Katana 4 is plain yet interesting, with its angled fins and unique heatpipe caps giving what would normally be a boring, flat top a nice look. With tiny gaps noticeable in the base itself, the three heatpipes are evenly spaced throughout the fins to maximize heat transfer.

The base of the Katana 4 is made out of nickle-plated copper and has a fairly well-polished base. While not a mirror finish, it is somewhat close to one, which is certainly nice to see on an entry level solution.

The Slip Stream fan's model number is 0T9225SL12M-P, a 92 mm x 92 mm x 25 mm PWM fan. It is solidly build, but lacks cable sleeving and has the fan looking decidedly plain. Sleeving on the cable would be nice, but its lack of sleeving is acceptable considering the Katana comes at such an affordable price.
