Introduction

From the SilentiumPC website:
Being a PC enthusiast or a gamer on a budget is an uneasy task, choosing all those high-end components, loads of RAM and powerful graphics usually leaves you with only a small amount of money to spend on a decent case or power supply. Having such experience ourselves, we were confident we can design products that combine ultimate functionality with the best value for money and aesthetically pleasing design.

This is the genesis of SilentiumPC, established in 2007, Warsaw, Poland.

Since then, we bring high-quality silent PC cases, power supplies, and cooling solutions that simply get the job done without breaking the bank. And how do we it? Well, we share the old-school belief that good products are the key to success. No aggressive marketing, no flashy banners everywhere, no mighty slogans. Instead, we're putting our efforts into effective design and smart cost-cutting, so you get no fancy boxes or stuff you don't need, just the pure essence of functionality at unbeatable prices.

The product-development process focuses on user-experience - how the product will function, how you will interact with it. We start by asking the right people the right questions and choose the most desired features.

But we don't just keep in good contact with end-users and enthusiasts, we are also part of the gaming and overclocking community ourselves. Most ideas come to us first hand, and we implement and test everything ourselves first. Yeah, even the guys at the warehouse mod their PCs. So it's safe to say that all SilentiumPC products are not tested on animals, they are tested on us!

Our fair and consistent approach has been appreciated; over the years, SilentiumPC has grown to become one of the most recognizable and popular brands in Poland, highly praised by the users, press, and business partners. This inspired our confidence to expand to other EU markets, and we hope you'll be the part of this next step of our master plan.

So this is us and our little world at SilentiumPC, and you are welcome.

SilentiumPC was founded in Warsaw, Poland, in 2007, with their first product on the market being the Zephyr fan. They have since moved on from those humble beginnings to win Benchmark.pl's manufacturer of the year award in 2012. They have also since improved on and expanded their offerings from just fans to CPU coolers, cases, and even power supplies. No longer content with being a big fish in a small pond, they have since set their sights on Europe and beyond.

Today's review will cover the SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425 and Fortis 3 Malik Customs Edition CPU coolers. These units make use of an offset single-tower design to offer increased memory clearance without sacrificing any surface area for heat dissipation. With an attractive price and a 140 mm fan, each, it will be interesting to see how these stack up to the competition.

Packaging and Contents

The SilentiumPC Fortis 3 comes in a medium-sized box that measures roughly 19 cm in length, 17 cm in width, and 19 cm in height. The box for the Malik Customs Edition is just a tad bit taller at 21 cm in height. On the Malik Customs Edition box is nothing more than a dramatically angled image of the cooler's top plate. The Fortis 3 box, on the other hand, features an image of the cooler and the company logo. The image on front of the box for the Malik Customs Edition continues on the right - there is nothing else. Moving on to the Fortis 3 box, there's a top-shot of the cooler on the right and an inset image of the cooler's heatpipe base. The back of the box for the Fortis 3 holds a list of features; it mentions the asymmetric design for memory compatibility and 140 mm Sigma Pro fan. The Malik Customs version instead lists all the cooler's specifications there.

The box for the Fortis 3 lists the cooler's specifications on its right-handed side. The Malik Customs box instead holds an image of the custom-colored top plates for users who want their cooler to match their system's color theme. The top of the box just consists of a simple logo or product name for both.

Contents

When it comes to protection, the coolers are encased in a plastic shell, which, while not fantastic, is not the worst I have seen. There is not much else to look at otherwise.
