Golden King is Super Flower's flagship series and all units from this series, that I had the chance to test so far, managed to earn a rare TPU recommendation. Today's review sample is no exception since it provided excellent performance in all my tests. More specific, the +12V rail showed tight voltage regulation, the best in its category, ripple is simply non existant, efficiency is sky high and the unit will run noiseless most of the time thanks to its semi-passive design. For those that don't like the idea of such high temperatures inside a PSU, Super Flower added a small red switch that can toggle the fan mode to normal. Personally I would select the normal mode, which improves the lifespan of internal components by keeping them cooler. Nevertheless due to its ultra high efficiency this unit dissipates very little heat so it features a really cool operation, so there won't be any problems with the fanless mode. After all Super Flower wouldn't provide this option if they weren't certain it works.

To sum up, this unit is an excellent performer and worthy of its high price tag. If you need a really quiet, medium-capacity unit with semi-fanless ability and you can afford it, then you should really consider it. If 650W are too weak for your system then you should take a look at the Golden King 1000W.
