Wemax has managed to makes waves with their Wemax Nova UST 4K laser projector as well as the portable Wemax Dice. With the Wemax Go we are reviewing here, and the Wemax Go Pro launched alongside on Indiegogo, Wemax is aiming to offer ALPD laser projection in a compact form factors, which has not been done before. While the Wemax Go and Wemax Go Pro are named similarly and aim to offer similar form factors with the same fundamental technology, they are vastly different in features and capabilities but also price, with the Wemax Go at $299 and the Wemax Go Pro at $599 on Indiegogo.

Packaging

Wemax ships the Go in a compact cardboard box, and a sticker on the side lets you know which unit is inside. In the package, a cutout holds the carrying case with the Go ALPD projector inside.

On top of that, Wemax sent us their portable 50" screen, which they will also offer as part of their Indiegogo campaign. It comes in a long tube and is held in place by foam cutouts and protected by a plastic bag.

With the zipper all around the carrying bag, you may flip it open all the way. The retail unit will also ship with a tripod for an easier, sturdier setup, but our review unit lacks that accessory, so we cannot gauge its usefulness. The carrying case has a few pouches that hold the USB-C wire and power brick.

Besides being extremely compact and lightweight, the Wemax Go uses a classic USB-C power source similar to modern smartphones, with the projector only requiring 30 W of operating power, which is exactly what the included brick provides at 12 V and 2.5 A.

The quick start guide is pretty bare and straightforward—true to its name. Additional documentation clarifies the warranty you will receive with the Wemax Go ALPD projector.
