I would like to thank XPG for supplying the review sample.

RGB is continuing to expand into new areas, including power delivery cables within the system. XPG joins the fray by offering 24-pin power and 8-pin power extension leads with their own lighting implementation in their XPG Prime ARGB cables we are reviewing in this article. It will compete largely with the likes of the Lian Li Strimer as that is the other widely available retail offering.

Packaging

We were shipped both the 24-pin and 8-pin variants for review, both of which ship in a compact colored box with a picture of the unit alongside a generic diagram of how it will be installed. There is also some additional information on the sides of the box.

The unboxing experience is certainly a bit better than with the Lian Li Strimer, with a nicely packaged and presented cable within.

Contents

Both types of cable sets ship with manuals, stickers, and a quick start guide. XPG seems to include stickers with all their products, much like motherboard brands used to back in the day.

The 24-pin cable also comes with a simple, effective RGB controller, so you may adjust the lighting and animations even if your motherboard does not have a compatible header. It is powered by SATA, and XPG also includes a little manual for the unit, on top of other documentation.
