Performance

CM Storm's Quick Fire Pro is a fully fledged mechanical gaming keyboard. The only feature missing is a driver suite and macro support like we saw on the CM Storm Trigger.

Gaming

The partial backlighting on the Quick Fire Pro works without a hitch. It is hardware controlled and allows for different output levels and three different modes. WASD is constantly lit, upper left hand key area lit, and pulsating of those keys. If there was one issue with the partial backlighting it is perhaps that you do not get any placement clues for your right hand position. A very minor issue, if just the J-key had been illuminated it would have been better.

Gaming on the Quick Fire Pro is great. It has a key which allows you to disable the sometimes annoying Windows-keys and the backlighting is completely sufficient for FPS gaming. That combined with the use of Cherry MX Red switches makes it is a gamer's delight. At $100 the Quick Fire Pro is definitely good value since it has all the features of the Zowie Celeritas plus some. It is a rock solid keyboard and it does not slide around on one's desk.

Typing

Typing on the keyboard worked well, however, the Cherry MX Red switches are not ideally suited for straight up typing tasks. Fortunately the Quick Fire Pro is available with the different switches from Cherry so you can pick and choose the one you prefer. Pretty much all the other switches are better for typing, but typing on the Cherry MX Red keys is still a lot better than typing on a regular rubber dome type keyboard.
