If I had to describe the AX1500i using one word, I would choose "outstanding". Corsair and Flextronics have, once again, delivered a mind-blowing product that clearly has no competition in terms of pure performance. This is by far the best unit money can buy today, and while one of the most expensive units, it is worth every cent. I am curious about the reliability of its digital circuits as time goes on, and only time will tell, but Flextronics has a ton of experience in the area, and Corsair even backs the AX1500i with a hefty seven year warranty, so you will be covered should anything go wrong.

The AX1500i not only carries on the hefty tradition of its smaller brother, the AX1200i, but also raises the performance bar. It comes with near-perfect voltage regulation, incredibly high efficiency at even low loads, provides ultra-clean voltages with all of its outputs, and features a very quiet operation, which is rare in a high-capacity PSU. The software monitoring and control is the cherry on top; however, I have some complaints to voice in that regard since the accuracy of our readings was very poor with low loads. I also had to restart my system a few times because the software couldn't see the PSU. However, I believe that these software issues can easily be fixed by Corsair's software engineers, and this iteration is vastly improved over older Corsair Link versions, although it still needs work. Yet the provided software obviously isn't this unit's most crucial feature as its digital control circuits are responsible for the ultra-high performance throughout, while providing the ability for software monitoring and control when it comes to some crucial functions (e.g. enabling custom OCPs for specific sockets, or fan-speed control). Lingering on the software a bit, I would like to see the option for voltage control over the rails. EVGA already provides this feature with the NEX1500 unit, so I am sure Corsair can too with their digital PSUs. It would be an incredibly interesting feature for advanced users and experienced overclockers.

To wrap up, if you need 1.5 kW of power and have the money Corsair asks, go and grab one. The AX1500i is the best PSU on the market today, which is reflected in my rating as I have never before given a near-perfect score. I am now eager to see how the competition will respond.
